Martin Luthers General Prayer for the Morning:

Real Prayers from Real People

Prayer is the easiest thing to do and, perhaps, the easiest thing to forget. However, prayer is essential for the life of faith as it is the place where we have a direct line of communication to our Maker and Redeemer. It is in prayer that you can pour out the contents of your heart to the only One who is able to listen and respond impartially for your good. This month we will be hearing the following real prayers from real people through the preached Word on Sunday mornings: Davids prayer of adoration for Gods goodness and grace in his life (2 Samuel 220. Asaphs prayer of confession for envy and jealousy of the wicked around him (Psalm 73). Pauls prayer of thanksgiving for the gifts God gives to His children (Ephesians 1.15-23). Pauls prayer of supplication for spiritual strength to stand firm day after day on the truth of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3.14-21).

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen

God desires to hear your real voice and your real heart. Pray real prayers!
