INSTRUCTIONS FOR TAKING THE ONLINE SPANISH PLACEMENT TEST (IMPORTANT: please read these instructions carefully)

UAB Idiomes Barcelona uses a written online test to gauge your level of Spanish. This test consists of: The C-Test, in which you complete the words of 4 texts by filling in the missing letters. To do this, you need to add the same number of letters as those already given for each word (or the same number plus one if the word has an odd number of letters) A multiple-choice exercise on grammar, vocabulary and language use. The questions that appear will vary in difficulty depending on whether the previous one was answered correctly or incorrectly.

To do the online written test, go to the following page: http://simtest.uab.es/simtest/index.html Then, click on Instructions in Catalan, English or Spanish and read them. Click on continue and fill in the following information: o o o o o Session number: Centre: User: Password: Level: 50163 uab-bcn surname and first names 2012 1

Then, click on continue, read the instructions for doing the C-test (there are four texts) and click on continue. It is very important not to exit the test without completing it. If the questions are too difficult, skip them, but continue to the end.

When you finish the test, the result will appear on screen, expressed as a number that can be interpreted as shown in the following table. What this result indicates is not your current level (more information about your language skills is needed for this), but the course that you should take.

The UAB Idiomes curriculum is based on the levels described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), of the Council of Europe. Each course is made up of 80 class hours.
