Our synod delegates this year are elders Karel and Kleyn. Elder Rittner is our alternate delegate. Brothers Henk Kleyn and Ron VanderBoon were able to accept the call to serve our congregation. Brothers Tom Moerdyk and Eric Wielhouwer do not have freedom to accept the call to serve as office bearers. The consistory has therefore scheduled a consistory meeting May 21 to prepare nominations for the congregation. Student VanDoodewaards graduation from seminary with his Master of Divinity degree is this week Friday. The congregation is most welcome to attend. May God bless our brother and his family as they leave us and seek to serve the Lord in ministry. The VanDoodewaard family will be moving to Ontario by May 22. His candidacy exam is scheduled to take place at the June 4-8 2012 FRCNA Synod. Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary Invitation As president of PRTS, I personally want to invite you to attend this years seminary commencement. Our speaker is Dr. Sinclair Ferguson. Dr. Fergusons address is entitled, Grace Marks in Young Gospel Ministers. He will be addressing the graduating class and audience from 2 Timothy 1:114. You will not want to miss hearing this encouraging, yet challenging message from one of todays finest preachers of the gospel. I look forward to seeing many of you on May 11 at 7:30 pm. Once again, this years graduation ceremony will be held at the Heritage Netherlands Reformed Congregation, 540 Crescent St., NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Refreshments will be served downstairs after the ceremony. Dr. Joel R. ~ Mission Update ~
Over the years FRMI has had close contact with AMG, an organization that for many years already has been operating Christian schools in Guatemala. Our learning center is patterned after similar centers operated by AMG. There is interest expressed by AMG to take over management of this centre and possibly establish a Christian School in Cubulco, providing junior and senior high school education for the students or setting up a vocational school. The mission committee is pursuing this with the plan to have a partner relationship possibly including Word and Deed. This project would include sponsorships for the students which will bring about close ties between our churches and the school. Should this become a reality you will hear more in the future. Nico Kattenberg is a key player in this endeavor since he has a good understanding of both the operation of AMG and the setup of the education project in Cubulco. Please pray that Nico can be effective in establishing a partnership program and that a Christian School be started in Cubulco.
