eGate Utility Manager

Objective
To provide a comprehensive graphical tool to be used to generate, maintain and execute command lines that support the e*Gate application interface engine. The tool will decrease interface development and support costs by automating the functions necessary to execute the utilities stccb, stciqutil and stcregutil.

Problem
The introduction of e*Gate 4.x by SeeBeyond (formerly known as STC) marked a significant advancement in the evolution of application integration. In addition to the increased scalability and functionality of e*Gate 4.x over DataGate 3.x, e*Gate requires increasingly complex methods of maintaining the integration environment. The days of simply copying a table file or dumping, editing and reloading a server queue are long gone. Even the task of selecting and running the schema has become prone to human error. The vendor supplied utilities intended to facilitate the maintenance of this new environment are executed from the command line. The utilities require the extensive use of command line parameters to direct their execution. In addition to the extensive use of command line parameters, the stciqutil program requires the evaluation and manipulation of potentially thousands of files.

Solution
The eGate Utility Manager eliminates the need for systems integration professionals to manually manipulate the command line by providing a comprehensive graphical tool that empowers systems integration professionals to build, maintain and execute the command lines necessary to support the SeeBeyond utilities stccb, stciqutil and stcregutil. In addition to the execution of the command line, the support for stciqutil includes functionality to view, edit, re-load and delete IQ events. This functionality is particularly usefully when a bad event gets stuck in an IQ and the subscribing collaboration is unable to successfully process it.

Overview
At present, the eGate Utility Manager provides a graphical interface to the following e*Gate command line programs: stccb, stciqutil and stcregutil. Stccb Build command lines dynamically as you select screen options Submit command lines to stccb Clear logs and IQ files View and edit test data Start the e*Gate Monitor

stciqutil Build command lines dynamically as you navigate through the schema objects

Submit command lines to stciqutil Provide queue dump event browse functionality Provide queue dump event edit functionality Provide queue dump event re-load functionality Provide queue dump and IQ event delete functionality

stcregutil Build command lines dynamically as you select screen options Submit command lines to stcregutil Provide file/folder lookup for parameters requiring file/folder identification

Implementation Effort
The entire implementation effort should take less than 5 minutes, presuming the selfextracting exe file has been downloaded to the NT server/workstation. After running the setup program (intuitively named setup.exe) the eGate Utility Manager is ready for use.

Assets

The eGate Utility Manager is designed to be functionally intuitive to an experienced systems integration professional.

Screen Shots
The stccb tab of the eGate Utility Manager provides the opportunity to load the parameters required to run the schema.

The stciqutil tab of the eGate Utility Manager provides the opportunity to load the parameters required to maintenance the IQs for a given schema. The schema navigation tree makes finding and loading the correct publisher, subscriber and event easy and accurate.

The stciqutil tab of the eGate Utility Manager provides the ability to manipulate the contents of the IQ. In this example, the user has selected several events to be deleted from the IQ. After clicking the OK button, the Utility will generate the command lines necessary to direct stciqutil to delete the specified events.

In this example, the user is executing a search for a keyword using date parameters. The Utility will highlight the events that satisfy the search value within the date range selected.

In this example, the user is has made changes to the event using the edit feature and is now ready to replace the old event in the IQ with the new event.

The stcregutil tab of the eGate Utility Manager provides the ability to generate command lines that will facilitate registry maintenance. In this example the user intends to export a schema. It doesnt get much easier than this. . .
