Additional Notes: This Cinderella drama script is adopted from the Perrault version: Once there was a widower who married a proud and haughty woman as his second wife. She had two daughters who were equally vain. By his first wife, hed had a beautiful young daughter who was a girl of unparalleled goodness and sweet temper. The Stepmother and her daughters forced the first daughter to complete all the housework. When the girl had done her work, she sat in the cinders, which caused her to be called Cinderella. The poor girl bore it patiently, but she dared not tell her father, who would have scolded her; his wife controlled him entirely. One day the Prince invited all the young ladies in the land to a ball so he could choose a lovely wife. As the two Stepsisters were invited, they gleefully planned their wardrobes.     SCRIPTS : Scene #1 (5 people) Narrator: Its 7 a.m. and Cinderellas family has just woken up. They are in the sitting room. Evil Stepmother: (pauses, looks around) CINDERELLA!! Cinderella: Yes, Stepmother? Evil Stepmother: Come here and make us breakfast! And bring me my makeup while youre at it! Cinderella: Yes, Stepmother. (Cinderella leaves to get the breakftist) Ugly Sister 2: Good morning, Mum. Where is my breakfast? Im hungry. Ugly Sister 1: Have you heard about the big ball the King is throwing to find Prince Charming a wife? Everyone will be there! Ugly Sister 2: Can we go, Mum, please, can we? Evil Stepmother: Of course we are going to the ball. My daughters are the most beautiful girls in the land. Ugly Sister 1: I hope he picks me to be the princess. Ugly Sister 2: No, I hope he picks me! Cinderella: (To stepmother) Heres your breakfast. (To sister 1) Heres your breakfast. (To sister 2) And here is your breakfast. (Pauses, in a sheepish tone) May I go to the ball too? Ugly Sister 1: You? Evil Stepmother: (Laughing.) Of course you may go, Cinderella, if you finish all your chores, and if you help your sisters get ready, and if you can find some decent clothes to wear instead of those rags!
