The rising trend of people participation in casting votes is a symbol of maturity of Indian democracy. But analyzing the incidents happening since last one year, we don't deserve such good news. If Voters feel that the voting is hoax, then there is nothing wrong, but the positive message in casting vote is to replace corrupt representatives by honest one.

REPRESENTATIVE AT WORK I 2010-2011
UTTAR PRADESH MPs VOTE FOR INDIA I Believe in Democracy and Make it Stronger EDITOR\DIRECTOR LARGEST DEMOCRACY BUT LOWEST VOTING We have opportunity to change the scenario Having witnessed the state assembly election in Bihar and recently concluded in 5 states it appears that the rising trend of people participation in casting votes is a symbol of maturity of Indian democracy. This news is good for our Indian democracy. The news bits are formed on the happening of events. But analyzing the incidents happening since last one year, we dont deserve such good news. As in past one year there are several harrowing and sorrowful Scams like CWG, Adarsh Society, 2G Spectrum and expecting many more to come have hampered the faith in our democracy and thrown the populous voters in wilderness. These are clear indication of deteriorating Indian politics and Politicians. In the event of above scams and frequent disruptions in Parliament working and that too at the cost of hard earned citizens money by our own elected representatives who are competing hard among themselves for making bigger scams. It is clear that they dont feel ashamed off but the Indian voters are ashamed of their choice of representation and repent on their franchise. If Voters feel that the voting is hoax, then there is nothing wrong. But even then the positive message in casting vote is to replace corrupt representatives by honest one to change the corrupt politicians to bring effective leaders and for this their perseverance and vigil hard efforts are seen. It is apparent that the current civil movement by civil society has brought the whole nation under one umbrella, which is an indication for replacement of corrupt political system along with peoples representation in functioning of democratic system. But voters be aware that only slogan will not do, we have to give our opinion by casting our vote diligently. Because in reality only your vote will replace the government and system. You should know your might and use it diligently to become carrier of true democracy. Vote For India under the banner of Representative at work, just like last year (2009- 2010) is publishing the work report for (2010- 2011)15TH Lokshabha about the elected representatives(M.P.) with a motive to make the voters aware of their representative functioning in parliament for betterment of society or not. Cartoonist Neeraj Gupta Director Vote for India Believe in Democracy and Make it Stronger I VOTE FOR INDIA Parliamentary democracy can survive only if the House functions. Frequent disruptions of the House will gradually render this institution irrelevant. A sense is growing in the country that Members of Parliament prefer to highlight public issues by disrupting the House. Thus in a fundamental sense the House is facing a serious dilemma. It pains me to see a large number of serious minded Members patiently waiting after giving notice and not being able to raise important issues because of adjournments of the House. The other day a large number of differently-abled children came here to watch the proceedings of the House on my invitation. I could see the disappointment on their innocent faces because they could not watch the proceedings due to abrupt adjournment of the House. This House is the symbol and inheritor of the great Indian civilization and it represents the collective wisdom of the people. This House has to function and it should be allowed to function. I appeal to all sections of the House to fnd solutions to problems through democratic means This House is the symbol of the dreams of over one billion people of this country. The Members as their chosen representatives have taken a solemn oath that they will faithfully discharge their duty cast upon them. That sacred duty is to discuss and debate the problems of the people and fnd solutions. The Constitution and the Rules of Procedure lay down the parameters for the proper functioning of this House. It is disturbing to note that a thinking is growing among certain sections in the House that the House should be paralyzed in order to make a political point. This is a tragic development which can emasculate this House and render the democratic processes ineffective and irrelevant. I would urge upon the Members to make an honest introspection about this disturbing trend in the functioning of this sovereign House and make individual and collective efforts to re-establish its great and hallowed traditions of enlightened debates and discussions. Only then, will we be able to sustain the legitimacy and credibility of this great Institution. Smt. Meira Kumar Honorable Speaker Lok Sabha SPEAKER SPEECH Valedictory Reference (18-12-2009) Valedictory Reference (07-05-2010) VOTE FOR INDIA I Believe in Democracy and Make it Stronger On the positive side, it was a great achievement that we had been able to preserve our parliamentary institutions, freedom, democracy and the unity of the nation despite a succession of crises and calamities. The system withstood and survived Nehrus demise, Congress splits, Chinese aggression, Wars with Pakistan, severe foods and droughts, external and internal emergency, Naxalite and Terrorist onslaughts. Parliament and State Legislatures functioned through and despite the crises. But then we seemed to have arrived at a blind alley from where no path appeared to go anywhere. We had to think of the future of parliamentary institutions, institutions, and of the ideals of freedom and democracy, stability and accountability. In a parliamentary policy, there could be nothing, sadder or more dangerous than the representative credentials of the representatives becoming suspect, and an increasing alienation taking place between the people and their representatives. Today, we were in a situation where sanctity of means had lost all value, meaning and relevance. After some sixty years of independence, dacoits, smugglers, gangsters and foreign agents could help put or sustain the rulers in power and the rulers were prepared to compromise with them. They were happy to buy stability of their chairs by bringing fellow legislators. The people felt that in the face of personal ambitions, the new breed of politicians in all parties were mostly selfsh, power hungry, greedy, dishonest hypocrites and power merchants for whom the nation came last and the welfare of the people was at the bottom of their priorities. Their only concern was to a mass wealth and somehow get to and stay in power. They were so busy in the struggle for survival that they had no time or energy left for serving the people. We had to deliberate on the highest priority basis why things had come to such a pass? Something could still be done to restore the legislatures and legislators to their traditional place of high honor and esteem in the affections of the people and bring about the new renaissance of democratic faith and parliamentary culture. VOTE FOR INDIA I Believe in Democracy and Make it Stronger REPRESENTATIVE AT WORK I 2010-2011 QUESTION Question hour in Parliament is a weapon by which government keep tabs on our MPs. Through questions any MP can come to know the development progress of their constituency. Questions also play important roles to bring important topics of public questions; General public concerns and highlighting the problems of country. But some MPs do not use their democratic power in a proper manner. Allegations like taking money for asking questions have affected the dignity of the question hour. Questions with incomplete preparations and their short answers have made this strong weapon of democracy weaker. Similarly, MPs being mere spectators only waste time against public expectations of the forum. Believe in Democracy and Make it Stronger I VOTE FOR INDIA REPRESENTATIVE AT WORK I 2010-2011 DEBATES Any debate is a sign of healthy democracy. Any debate in Parliament decides the state and the direction for the country. Discussions of the Parliament are directly related to the general public, on the basis of these debates the framework and its implementation of social - national - cultural and welfare functions is made. Gradually these controversies have taken the place of debates. Now noise and slogans are being perceived as debate. Few MPs now make big hue and cry and others are staying mostly silent. To express a concern for an issue is appropriate but parliamentary courtesy and dignity of democracy is equally important. To some extent teterioration in honor of the MPs is because of their rude behavior in Parliament. VOTE FOR INDIA I Believe in Democracy and Make it Stronger REPRESENTATIVE AT WORK I 2010-2011 MPLADS (MemberOfParliamentLocalAreaDevelopmentScheme) Being elected representatives of the general public; it becomes the duty of MPs to ensure the development of their constituency constantly. Since MPs cannot do the development activities from their salaries, so the concept of MP development fund emerged. Under this, each MP is given two crore Rupees every year. It wont be wrong if we say that MP Development Fund is a vital source of development. Such amount has given an unprecedented pace to development, but like other government schemes, due to Representatives disinterest these plans are also losing its shine. Some MPs have used this fund with overwhelming generosity but some just made plans. Perhaps this is why people in Parliament have started raising their voice to increase the amount. This right enables a member to show their disagreement or highlight a signifcant event happened in their area to the House through special mention. This makes the House atmosphere light as the members starts teasing each other by saying poems or commenting in any other ways on each other. But nowadays in a situation where the members have lost interest in question hour and debates, using special mention is becoming nonessential. But if any MP wants to speak on any issue there is a provision to get the private members bill. Either wise, members other than ministers are considered as private members in Parliament, The importance of the subject matter can be gauged as every Friday two and a half hours are given to private members. It is different matter that MPs are showing less interest in this and in the absence of any notice the time is given to the Parliament for other works.
