Statement about Industrial psychology-"The scientific study of the relationship between man and the world of work: ... in the process of making a living" --------Guion. Generally Industrial psychology is the scientific study of employees, workplaces, and organizations.

Objective of the project To improve the performance and well-being of an organizations people.

An Industrial psychologist researches and identifies how behaviors and attitudes can be improved through hiring practices, training programs, and feedback systems. Industrial psychologists also help organizations transition among periods of change and development. Research Methodology Research Type- Quantitative and Qualitative Quantitative method: Descriptive statistics and Inferential statistics (Correlation, multiple regression, and analysis of variance, logistic regression, multivariate analysis of variance, structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear modeling and psychometric method.) Qualitative method: content analysis, focus groups, interviews, case studies, questionnaire and several other observational techniques.

Data collection: Ethnographic techniques and participant observation Study design: Surveys, experiments, quasi-experiments, and observational study. Importance : Its help organization to maximize their human capital. Limitation: Quacks and Frauds-The practice of Industrial Psychology by person not professionally trained. The reluctance to try something new, a resistance to change on the part of executives and employees often faced by industrial psychologist. Communication, the translation of technical jargon so that it can be understood by management personnel. The act of observation may interfere or change that which the psychologists are trying to observe .Often people will behave in a changed manner when they know their behavior is being observed . Some studies must be conducted in an artificial setting .This artificiality of the setting can reduce the level of generalizability of the findings. Future Direction: Future work in industrial psychology should consist in a much needed thorough investigation of the problems of management and supervision, of discipline and morale, of group relationships, of leadership, and of attitudinal factors affecting the conditions of quantity and quality of output. Conclusion: Industrial psychology is of great value to organizations, contribuiting to profitability as well as to the satisfaction of individual employee. It facilitate organizational development and change.
