A. 1. The title of the book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

4. The setting is a castle-like magical school in the highlands of Scotland called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The time is the early 1990s. 5. The setting has an effect on the Harry and Hermione because the magical world is new to them, but it does not have a big effect on Ron because he has grown up around the magical world. The setting makes the story exiting because it is a completely unreal place but is very big and new to the reader. 6. This story is about courage and because thru the whole story Harry has to do things he doesnt want to do and he doesnt even act scared about doing them. 7. Harry attempts to stop Voldemort from stealing the Sorcerers Stone. 8. a. After Voldemort kills Harrys parents, he attempts to do the same to him but ends up failing and killing himself instead. Harry is dropped off at Number Four Private Drive, his aunt and uncles house. b. Harry and the Dursleys go to the zoo for Dudlys birthday and Harry talks to one of the snakes, then makes the glass holding the python in disappear, therefore making Dudly fall in where the snake was and the snake gets away. c. Harry starts receiving letters addressed to him from Hogwarts, but Uncle Vernon will not let him read them. d. Harry and the Dursleys go to a run down cabin in the middle of the sea and Hagrid arrives to tell Harry that he has been accepted to Hogwarts a school for young witches and wizards. e. Harry and Hagrid take a train to the entrence of Diagon alley. f. Hagrid and Harry go to Gringots, the wizard bank and Hagrid gets a small box for Dumbledore. Harry retrieves some of the money his parents left him. g. Harry buys all of his school supplies including his wand and his snow owl named Hedwig.

h. Harry goes to platform 9 on September 1st and gets on the Hogwarts express, the train that will take him to Hogwarts. i. Harry watches as his peers are sorted into the four houses: Ron gets Gryffindor Hermione and Harry the same, and Draco Malfoy gets slytherin. j. Professor Snape inquires Harry to embarrass him and Harry believes that Snape hates him though he doesnt know why. k. Harry goes to Hagrids house at the edge of the forbidden forest. l. Harry has his first flying lesson taught by Madam Hooch. Draco steels Nevilles remembrall and Harry, while riding his first broom ever shows outstanding seeker talents. Prof. McGonagall sees Harry and gets him added as the new seeker for the Gryffindor quiddich tam. m. Draco sets Harry up by telling him that they will duel in the trophy room at midnight, but never shows up. Filch almost catches Harry, Ron, and Hermione, but they go to the off limits 3rd floor corridor and discover Fluffy, the three-headed dog guarding a trap door. n. At breakfast, Harry receives his brand new Nimbus 2000 and at night goes to his first quiddich practice. o. On Halloween, in charms, Prof. Flittwick is teaching them to make objects levitate. Ron gets annoyed with Hermione because he keeps saying the incantation wrong (Wingardium Lev-i-o-SA) and Hermione corrects him (Wingardium Lev-i-O-sa) Hermione hears him talking about her and goes to cry in the bathroom. p. Prof. Quirrel finds a troll in the dungeon and everyone is directed to go to their common rooms. Harry and Ron stay back to find Hermione who is still in the bathroom. The troll finds its way to the bathroom and Ron and Harry defeat it by sticking a wand up its nose and then levitating its club above its head, then dropping it and knocking it unconscious. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are now best friends. q. Harry plays in his first quiddich match and in the middle of the match his broomstick starts going wild; it is being jinxed and Hermione goes to stop the suspected jinxer, Snape and does it successfully. r. Harry catches the snitch and is rewarded 150 points, therefore Gryffindor wins the match. s. Harry, Ron, and Hermione talk to Hargrid and he tells them that what fluffy is guarding has something to do with Nicholas Flamel. Harry realizes he has heard the name before, but doesnt know where. t. Harry and Ron stay over Christmas and look for information about Nicholas Flamel. On Chrismas morning Harry receives some presents; a wooden flute from Hagrid, a sweater from Mrs. Weasley, fifty pense from his uncle and aunt, chocolate frogs from Hermione and an Invisibility Cloak from an anonymous person. The cloak had belonged to Harry's dad. u. Harry uses the invisibility cloak to look for books about Nicholas Flamel in the restricted section of the library.

v. Harry almost gets caught but flees to an empty classroom with the mirror of erised. He stares into the mirror of erised and sees him with his parents. w. On the third night Harry goes to the mirror of erised, and Dumbledore is waiting for him and tells him that the mirror will be moved to a different location and that he shouldnt go looking for it. x. Neville gives Harry a chocolate frog card about Nicholas Flamel and they find out that he made the sorcerers stone and they believe that that is what Fluffy is guarding. y. Harry, Ron, and Hermione find Hagrid in the library hiding something behind his back and look at what kinds of books he was checking out. They were about dragons. z. Hagrid shows them a Norwegian Ridgeback and they watch it as it hatches. While this is happening, Draco is peeking through the window. aa. Hagrid realizes he cant keep the dragon so he gets Rons brother to come to Hogwarts and get the dragon. ab. Saturday night they take the dragon in a cage to the top of the astronomy tower under the invisibility cloak and McGonagall find Draco there and sends him to detention. Right after Rons brother flies away with the dragon, Harry and Hermione get caught by Filch. ac. Gryffindor gets 150 house points taken away and Harry, Neville, and Hermione and Draco have to go to detention; looking for a wounded unicorn in the Forbidden Forest. They split into groups: Neville and Draco in one and Harry, Hermione, and Hagrid in the other. ad. Sparks fly up in the air and Hagrid goes to help them but it was just Draco scaring Neville. Neville and Harry switch groups. ae. Harry and Draco find the dead unicorn and a hooded figure comes slithering on the ground to suck its blood. Draco screams and Firenze the centaur scares the thing away. af. After the final exams, Harry heads over to Hagrids house and asks him who gave him the dragon egg. Hagrid tells him it was a man who was very interested in Fluffy. ag. Harry goes to tell Dumbledore but learns he has received an urgent call from the Ministry of Magic so Harry decides he has to get there first. ah. Harry, Ron, and Hermione go to the forbidden room, play Fluffy a tune on the flute Hagrid gave him, and get to the trap door. That was Hagrids obstacle. ai. The Devil's Snare was Professor Sprouts, The keys were Professor Flitwicks, the chess Professor McGonagall, where Ron got left, leaving Quirrell's and Snape's obstacles still to be tackled. aj. Quirrels was a troll that already was knocked out and Snapes was a riddle and some potions that Hermione used her wits to figure out. Harry went forward and Hermione went back.

ak. To Harrys surprise he finds Quirrel not Snape in the room and he also finds the mirror of erised. Quirrel, who is no longer stuttering and twitching, removes his turbin and Voldemort, his master, is on the back of his head. al. Harry looks into the mirror and sees himself drop the stone into his own pocket and in real life he feels it. He lies and says he doesnt and they get into a fight, but every time Harry touches Quirrel he blisters. Harry reaches up to grab Quirrels face and Voldemort escapes. Harry blacks out. am. Harry wakes up in the hospital wing with Dumbledore waiting beside him. Dumbledore explains everything to Harry. an. At the end of the year feast, it is announced that Slytherin has won the house cup. Heres the twist, Dumbledore awards Hermione and Ron 50 points each and then Harry 60 points, tying them with Slytherin, then Neville receives 10 points, making Gryffindor the winner. ao. They board the Hogwarts Express and Harry goes home to spend another summer with the Dursleys A. 9. The book was one of my favorite in the series which is my second favorite series. 10. I liked that it was adventurous and you werent able to predict what would happen next. 11. I didnt dislike anything. 12. No, it wasnt confusing. 13. No, the whole time you think Snape is the bad guy. 14. If wizards were real then it wouldnt be hard to believe. 15. The ending was a twist ending and it was very exciting. 16. a. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but even more to stand up to your friends. -Albus Dumbledore It talks about how Neville stood up to Harry and told him not to try to stop Voldemort. b. Fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself. Hermione Granger She is talking about how everyone is afraid of saying Voldemort, but really they shouldnt be.

c. I am not paying for some crackpot old fool to teach him magic tricks. Uncle Vernon He is speaking to Hagrid about how he doesnt want to send Harry to Hogwarts.
