Welcome back! Get to know our staff.


Susan Birns I can hardly believe this is the beginning of my 9th year as director of the Susan B. Anthony Womens Center. It has always seemed like the place for me, since my mother almost named me Susan B. Anthony Birnstrue story. I am already enjoying working with another fabulous staff of young feminists and an ever inspiring Advisory Board. We are preparing for our second community conversation about stereotypes (StereoTalk II: What is Gender?), co-sponsorship of a talk about the relationship between men and feminism, and a celebration of two important anniversaries this year at MCLA15 years for the Womens Center and 20 years for the Womens Studies Minor. I hope to see many of you at these events! And we invite everyone to come visit us at the Centerit belongs to us all! an English/Communications major halfway through her senior year, I only have one semester left at MCLA and this center before I head off to wherever my newly minted Journalism degree will take me. I am very excited about the few months I have left here at the center and am looking forward to the articles we will write and the wonderful events we will host as we tackle the topic of stereotypes for the second year.

Sam McLenithan-Womens issues have always been a passion of mine, therefore, I was very excited when I was awarded a work study at the Womens Center. Currently, I am a freshmen majoring in Business Administration at MCLA. I am involved in the Advisory Board of my campus home, the Berkshire Towers, and am running for vice-president of the class of 2012. Im also pretty psyched for the writing and the arts come together in my job at the CenStereoTalk in the fall, and our production of Bitches, ter. This year were working with others around campus Bimbos, and Ballbreakers in the spring. You can come to us with inquiries about the womens studies minor, our events and our newsletterbut were also a resource and space for students. If you need a quiet place to work or study, or you just want to kick back on our couches and relax, come and visit us! We also have a library of books about feminism, gender issues and more. Drop in anytime were open.
