2012 End of the Year Textbook and Calculator Collection and Late Fees

May 16 18, 2012, Early Textbook Return

Teachers may begin to return TEs and textbooks for classes that are currently not using their textbooks. Please email Ms. Heiser to schedule a time to turn in your books.

May 18, 2012

Last date to return checked out sports equipment, library materials, club fundraiser money, class issued books (such as English readers, etc) or pay outstanding fines (textbooks, parking, etc) and be exempt from finals.

May 21-25, 2012 (7 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.)

Exempt students return textbooks and calculators to Upstairs Library (Science side). Both sides of the library (Math and Science Halls) will be open before and after school beginning Wednesday, May 22nd through May 31st.

Final Exams May 25-31, 2012

All other textbooks and calculators will be returned during the exam period. Textbooks and calculators will be collected during final exams by student workers. Students can also turn in textbooks before and after school in the Upstairs Library (Math and Science Hall sides)

Process for Collecting Textbooks and Calculators

Student will turn in their textbook to the teacher in the room in which they are testing. The teacher will verify the accession number, highlight the students name, and have student initial. The teacher will sign the form. The books will be stacked inside the classroom close to the door to be picked up by student volunteers. The books will be scanned and stored in the Upstairs Library. TI83 calculators will be returned during the math final exam. Teachers will verify the calculator number, highlight the students name, and have student initial. Teachers will turn the calculator on and then off to check that it is functional. Teachers will remove the batteries and return the batteries to the student. The calculators will be picked up by student volunteers.

Fines (starting June 11, 2012)

$1.00 per day per book late fee up to $20 per book. After July 25th, full price will be charged for books not returned. Locker clean out will be May 30th beginning at 9:45AM. $10 fine for books abandoned in lockers or found elsewhere in the building. A fee of 20% of the cost of the book will be charged to remove sticky residue. A fee of 50% to 100% of the cost of a book for water/other liquid damage. A fee of 100% of the cost of the book will be charged for mildew damage. Listed below is the late fee schedule per book:

Letters are sent home to parents of students who have lost, damaged or abandoned textbooks. Seniors should have all textbooks/fines cleared before graduation. Final transcripts will be held until textbooks are returned and fines are paid. Students not cleared will be unable to check out textbooks next year until fines are paid.
