6.

Course Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students are able to 1. 2. 3. 4. describe statistics techniques discussed in this course differentiate between inferential and descriptive statistics identify appropriate statistical techniques to solve related problems apply appropriate statistical techniques to solve problems

7.

Synopsis: This course is intended to introduce students to the basic concepts of data collection, data analysis and statistical inference. Topics include an overview of observational and experimental study designs, graphical and numerical descriptive statistics, probability distributions for simple experiments and random variables, sampling distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing for the mean and proportion in the one sample case. The emphasis is on developing statistical reasoning skills and concepts.
