MOXBA-METREX RESIDUE MANAGEMENT: ECONOMIC AND ECOLOGICAL SENSE.

Moxba-Metrex is a Dutch company, specialised in the responsible and environment-friendly disposal and processing of metal containing residues since 1974. With two locotions in The Netherlands, we are more than just a recycling facility. Not only treatment and recycling, analysing and sampling of your metal containing waste streams are our activities, it also includes arranging documents, licences, the organisation of transport and waste projects and general consultancy services as well. We offer, in fact, a total solution to relieve you of most, if not all, the responsibility. Other residues
Other waste and residues like industrial metallic sludges, filter cakes or dusts, etc. For this we generally use a clear-cut step-by-step plan (see other page). The complexity of many materials means that we regularly have to come up with tailor-made solutions. In this kind of situation we prefer to discuss problems and work out answers personally and directly with our clients.

THE PROCESS OF MOXBA-METREX

To begin with, your materials will be subjected to activities as separation, sieving, breaking, etc., in order to facilitate the thermal treatment. Subsequently, the material is thermally treated in a fluidised bed kiln and/or rotating tubular kiln, depending on the type of materials. The combustible part of the waste, containing hydrocarbons and sulfurcompounds are treated in the fluid-bed process. The gasses are primarily cleaned in a cyclone and dust collecting filter. Next, in a series of scrubbing towers, the sulfuroxide compounds of the flue gas are treated with magnesium hydroxide and converted to magnesiumsulfate. The unique desulfurisation process is so effective that it yields an efficiency usually 20 times greater than is required. The magnesiumsulfate is refined to a quality, which can be used as a product for agriculture fertilizer.

WHAT KIND OF PRODUCTS CAN WE DEAL WITH?

The range of products we deal with consists of: used catalysts from the (petro) chemical industry; other (metallic) residues, suitable for re-use/recycling.

The rotary kiln is a perfect possibility for the treatment of metal containing waste by means of drying or calcination. After dust collection in separate system of cyclone and filter, the gasses are either condensed or passed through the before mentioned gas cleaning system. The treated material can be reused as a raw material or can be returned to the customer.

Catalysts
Catalysts from the (petro) chemical industry, which are deactivated or cannot be used anymore, are one of our major (processing) activities. For treating catalysts, which contain for example Au, Ag, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mo, Ni, Pd, Pt, V, Zn, NiMo, CoMo or a combination thereof, we offer an exceedingly competitive service. In addition to this we give advice on catalyst discharging, material handling, packaging and if requested, we can provide all the necessary support.

Due to a balanced international network of prominent licensed companies to where we supply our (semi-)products, we have been able to include increasingly more complicated waste products and metallic residues from every branch of industry in our recycling system. The past years more and more innovative projects are implemented successfully through recycling routes that never have been used before. Our modern wellequipped laboratory, together with the Moxba-Metrex R&D department, is the key to this success.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ACT PERMIT HOLDER

Clear recognition of our approach is our permit issued under the Environmental Management Act for transporting, storing, sorting/seaving and processing metallic (chemical) waste and residues.

STEP-BY-STEP PLAN ANALYSIS

A representative analysis of the residue is the basis of all our activities. Our clients can perform the analysis themselves; or alternatively this can be left to us - sampling and/or a full analysis report. We can also, when dealing with complex materials or large quantities, experiment with the processing set-up by carrying out test runs.

FORMALITIES
At every stage we complete the necessary formalities on your behalf and ensure you have the required documentation. We transport all residual and waste material within the Netherlands with all the accompanying forms in accordance with the Dutch Environmental Management Act. All transfrontier shipments are carried out in accordance with the European Council Regulation (259/93) for the Transport of Waste materials.

TRANSPORT
We transport your residues in a safe and responsible way (ADR/IMO-classified). In this you can say which form of packaging you want to use. If necessary, we can provide customized containers and storage bins.

STORAGE + HANDLING
In our special CPR 15.2 storage facililies, thousands of tons of hazardous waste can be kept in compliance with the latest environmental and safety requirements in the storage of hazardous waste (including leak-proof flooring, separate drainage systems and a modern fire alarm installation). There are separate compartments for loose material, waste packed in drums, containers or big-bags and self-heating products.

PROCESSING
The actual processing takes place in different stages. Firstly, there is the pre-treatment like separation, sieving, breaking, etc., which facilitates the following stage: thermal treatment in a fluidised bed kiln and/or rotating tubular kiln.

REPACKING
The way in which raw or processed residues are packed usually has to be changed to meet requirements of our clients or to make it suitable for further storage. We have almost limitless possibilities to do this.

FINAL TRANSPORT
Last but not least, we naturally ensure safe and responsible transport of residues and secondary materials and products.
