Clean Agent Suppression Systems

Slave Actuation Package, each having their own "sealed for life" nitrogen pilot cylinder. Operation of the Master Actuation Package occurs when its electric solenoid receives a signal from the control panel, releasing nitrogen from the sealed pilot cylinder to the clean agent valve. The Slave Actuation Package includes a pnuematic valve operated by nitrogen pressure from the Master Actuation Package. Introducing nitrogen pressure between the two discharge valve disc's instantaneously opens the clean agent valve, allowing HFC-227ea to flow from the storage container, throughout the piping network, and to the discharge nozzles. DESCRIPTION Fike Solenoid Actuated clean agent Valve assemblies are designed to retain HFC-227ea in the storage containers until electrically or pneumatically actuated. This valve design utilizes a fast acting rupture disc which once operated, will release the HFC-227ea agent in 10 seconds or less. Valves are available in 25mm, 50mm and 80mm with various valve to cylinder thread connections. Valve assemblies must be operated via Fike designed actuators. The valve body and hold down nut are both constructed of carbon steel and have a black zinc plated finish. Each valve assembly includes the double rupture disc assembly and all necessary retaining nuts. Other items included in the valve assemblies are: HFC-227ea pressure gauge Gauge bleeder O-ring for valve to cylinder connection JIC pneumatic hose connection Fill valve Victaulic coupling, gasket, and baffle plate Set screws for siphon tube (male thread only) The use of a rupture disc valve provides a full bore flow path and continues the Fike tradition of a "low pressure loss" design, which allows installations to have longer discharge pipework runs or smaller pipe diameters. The discharge valve incorporates over pressure relief for the container. Relief pressure is 41 to 48 barg for the 25 mm and 50 mm valves, and 39 to 48 barg for the 80 mm valve. INSTALLATION The Electric Solenoid Actuator, (02-4958) of the Master Actuation Package, (70-121) is connected electrically to the releasing circuit of a control panel or a Solenoid Releasing Module (SRM) on the Fike Cheetah control system. The Master Actuation Package is connected to the clean agent valve with a JIC braided hose. Multiple clean agent (maximum of 5) valve assemblies (slaves) can be connected pneumatically to the Master Actuation Package. Each slave container of a manifold container assembly requires a Slave Actuation Package (70-127), which includes a pneumatic valve (70-133) threaded to a nitrogen cylinder. (See Data Sheet 1204E) The Solenoid Actuated Valve Assembly does not include a siphon tube due to the wide range of containers the valve can be used on. Refer to Fike for specifications on siphon tube connections and installation instructions.

OPERATION Fike Solenoid Actuated clean agent valves utilize a balanced pressure rupture disc to retain HFC-227ea in the storage containers and to allow nitrogen pressure to actuate the valve. The clean agent valve is operated from either a Master or
