Specifications
Amphion Model 12-H (Shop Floor)
This Amphion is called the H to describe its High speed or broadband Internet access capability. It is also known as the RSSD, or Remote Service Security Device. This device can perform the function of remote service to one machine, or it can be converted remotely by Ei3s NOC technicians to become the master RSSD Amphion. The basic premise of this architecture is to create only one service tunnel between the end-customer plant site and the remote service platform. The Shop Floor Amphion device creates a tunnel that connects service technicians to multiple machines on the shop floor. This single tunnel is used to pass all the data traffic necessary to perform the remote service features for all the machines within the shop floor. This model is identified by its handset and line jacks, the larger enclosure, as well as a green trim.

In order to connect the service technicians computer to the Amphion to make repairs, we recommend using the provided Crossover Ethernet cable. Make sure the crossover cable is connected directly from the Ethernet port on the technicians computer to the Service port on the Amphion. 2. Using an Ethernet Hub set to Normal mode.
An alternative approach to providing service would be to connect both the computers Ethernet port and the Amphions service port to an Ethernet hub (set to Normal mode). For best results, make sure that the hub has no other devices attached to it. This will ensure the Amphion can properly communicate with the devices on your network.

This page is only visible when configuring a Shop Floor Amphion (Model H).
This page allows the user to configure information about how the Amphion device can access the Internet. The preferred method is to connect the Amphion device to a network that has a DHCP server that provides an address to the Amphion device. If your Internet access point has a DHCP server available to provide an Internet address, then check the DHCP box, and you are done. Otherwise, you will need to fill in the Internet access information below, including: The IP address that is available for the Amphion to use as the Internet access point. The subnet mask for the network the Amphion uses for Internet access. The Default Gateway must also be provided.
This page is only visible when configuring a Machine LAN Amphion (Model N).
On this page all of the settings of the MRFD can be configured. First the project number, or Ei3 circuit number should be added, as well as if this is the first, second, or third, etc, MRFD to use this circuit ID. If you need to use a network address other than 192.168.100.0 for the LAN between the Shop Floor Amphion (Model H) and Machine LAN Amphion (Model N), you can do so by changing the default addresses of the network, subnet mask and default gateway supplied on this page.
If you are using a Highway Server, the IP address of that can be configured by entering the address. If the Highway Server is not on the Shop Floor LAN, you will be required to enter a router IP address that the Highway Server is reachable by. Finally, in the table provided you must write your machine LAN IP addresses for all of the machine control devices that will be accessible. All the devices that will receive remote service through this Amphion device must be on the network specified here or they will not be remotely accessible. If the machine control devices are using IP addresses in the 192.168.0.1 192.168.255.254 IP range, be sure to select 192.168.0.0/16, before entering their IP addresses. Your Amphion device was purchased to support the network size that is allowed by this page. The standard configuration is for at most, a 29-node network. The user cannot increase this number. If you desire a different subnet mask configuration, please contact Ei3 technical support. The Amphion device must be given its own address on the Machine LAN. IMPORTANT: All devices that will receive remote service must have this address listed as their Default Gateway.
On this page, the MRFDs firewall can be configured. An entry needs to be added here for each service that is used over the Amphions connection. Note that the Amphion come preconfigured with all of the most commonly used services, therefore it is usually not required to make any changes here.
Once all the Amphion device parameters have been configured, the device must be rebooted to load the networking information. The reboot can be accomplished by clicking on the Reboot button. The process takes about four minutes and during this time the browser will not be able to communicate with the Amphion device. After the reboot is completed, the green system light will begin its flashing cycle and you can log in. Also, the blue Tunnel LED will flash slowly when there is a valid connection to the RSSD. Your Amphion is now configured and ready for operation.
After approximately 4 minutes, the Blue Tunnel LED and Green System LED should start flashing, meaning that the tunnel has been created through the Internet. When the service tunnel is being used, the blue LED will indicate this by staying lit with no flashing. Now the Amphion is ready for operation. The Argo service network should function properly. This can be tested by creating an Argo key and using the key to access the equipment on the machine LAN. When the equipment is being accessed, the Blue Tunnel LED will flash rapidly at approximately 0.1 Hz. By using the Argo key and activating the network, it should be possible to ping every device that you have assigned on the machine LAN. If a problem occurs during the initial start-up and operations, see the troubleshooting pages provided later in this users guide.
