War
War can be defined as a state of armed conflict between different nations or state of different group within the nation or state. For your information, wars have begun since the prehistoric ages. There are three aspect of war that we can make review about which are factors that causes war, effects of war, and ways to overcome war. There are a few factors that causes war to happen which are to fight against oppression and increase the power of a country. According to Ramlah, Abdul Hakim and Muslimin (2005), the colonization of Japan on Malaya leaves a lot of mental and physical damages on the people of Malaya. For example, even though the war ended 50 years ago, the people of Malaya still cannot forget the worst thing that happen to them and their ancestor during the war. Due to that, the people of Malaya try to stand up for themselves and fight against the oppression by seeking help from the British to get rid of the Japanese from Malaya. The British managed to dispel the Japanese from Malaya and spatter a new hope for the people of Malaya. The second reason why war happened was because certain countries trying to increase their power among the nations. According to Evera (1999), power factor play a huge role in causing a war to happen. In general, most of the countries wanted to show their power by conquering other countries and earned profits from the country. The influential upgraded their technologies to compete with other countries. They were using all the sources that they have to conquer a country that has a good economic and geographical condition. When war happened, it gives a lot of impact good and bad impact to the country itself. One of the positive impacts from war is the modernisation of technology in certain countries. For example, the usage of dredger in mining (Ramlah et al, 2005). The dredger was brought

by the British to speed up the mining process. The first world war created the modern world. It helps in art modernism, new approaches to psychology and medicine and radical thoughts about economics and society, (Keagan, 1998). Then, war also improves the transportation of certain countries to a more advanced technology. For example, before the British came to Malaya, the standard of transportations is still low. There are no railway stations, no land and water vehicles are being used and the roads are yet to be paved during that time. The British modernised the transportation system in Malaya by establishing new roads for vehicles and even railway tracks to improve the economic. Next, war also cultivates patriotism among the people. This can be seen through people in different races that unite to fight for their rights and struggling to gain independence. However, the bad impact of war also can be observed obviously. One of it is that people suffered physically and mentally. A lot of people were suffering due to flagellation and lack of food. This is because many people became slaves during the war and been treated badly by the colonialist. Next, the economic downturn of a country also occurred due to war. This is because most of the incomes of the country are used for the expenses for the war. Although many countries are able to encounter this problem, some countries did not manage to handle this problem as the administration of the country become disastrous. In order to create a more peaceful world, we must overcome war from happening. Firstly, we can create awareness about the effects of war. For example, we can promote campaign against war. By doing this, we can make people realize the consequences of war if it continues to happen. Apart from that, people must be educated on the issues and understand what causes war to happen and how to approach this issue. Lack of understanding of others history, cultures and religion are one of the causes of war happening around us. Therefore, we must be open-minded so that people do not resort to violence. Moreover, we must respect each other by listening and appreciating others opinion. Besides that, people must be brave to

voice out our thoughts without hurting others feelings. According to Parrish (2006), we must learn from the people that we disagree with but we must not also shy away from voicing our opinions. In a nutshell, we must remember that war involves many innocent lives. Therefore, we must make sure that no war happens in this peaceful and lovely world. End each day with thought of peace. Begin each day with thought of peace continue thinking of peace throughout your precious day and happiness will be yours. ( Luther, n.d ).
