a) (i) During the Green Revolution, the process of harvest and agricultural practices was mechanized and commercialized. The productivity increased and the result led to better commercialization. (ii) Chemical fertilizers and irrigation system can be the main technologies relevant to the green revolution. They are, however, environmentally unsustainable. (iii) Both India and Mexico went through this Green Revolution in response to the rapidly developing agricultural practices. Even though the regions were agriculturally developed, they were mostly focused on subsistence farming in the past, while currently, they concentrate on the global trade and markets. b) It needed a sustainable economy that supports active market so that both knowledge and goods can be commercialized. Additionally, schools were necessary in order to spread the utilization of technology. c) Even though in the short term, people used chemical fertilizers on plants and animals to make profits as fast as possible, some were worried about the impacts they would bring about in the near future. This hampered the continuous overuse of chemicals, which was symbolic during green revolution. Moreover, land and water pollution worsened because of inconsiderate technology usage. People could no longer misuse such finite resource. 2007 FRQ 1. A. X would be closer to the urban area where active market takes place, while Y should be far from the city considering the accessibility to the markets and the price of land. B. Activity X should be located near the urban are since it should be close to its market. The products are comparably perishable and closer market would bring the retailer the maximized profit. However, according to the von Thunens theorem, the cost of land is high. C. Compared to the past days, transportation system has developed greatly. Even though activities like X takes place far away from the market, farmers can use the transportation to get the product to the market safely without consuming much time. As well, the developed refrigeration additionally helps the products to last longer than before. 2009 FRQ 3. A. Due to the technological development, not as many farms were needed to meet the consumer demand. The number of farms naturally diminished as a result of the competition in the markets. Additionally, farmers found jobs that are more profitable than ranchinghence small decline occurred. B. After sudden industrialization, some people were worried about their health. People were aware of the chemicals injected in order to maximize the profits and

meet the demand. Since people in 1970s were a lot wealthier than previous years, people could afford organic milk.
