    Statement from Senate Democratic Conference Leader John Sampson For New York to rank at the top in taxes but near the bottom in wage fairness is outrageous. The Senate must act on raising the minimum wage. Unfortunately Senator Skelos and the Senate Republicans have stated that they will not address the growing call for an increase in the minimum wage. While everyday New Yorkers are struggling, now is not the time for petty political games. I call on the Senate Republican Conference to listen to the overwhelming majority of our state's residents and allow minimum wage legislation to come to the floor of the Senate. We must make it clear that we look out for all New Yorkers not just the top 1%. ###
