This gave considerable information on the reasons for the start of the troubles. It was in-depth, highly detailed, and my main supplementary article. It was good for clarification and background knowledge, and I used it quite extensively.

"CAIN: Chronology of the Conflict 1983." CAIN: Northern Ireland Conflict, Politics, and Society. Information on 'the Troubles' Web. 27 Nov. 2011. <http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/othelem/chron/ch83.htm>.

This chronology of the conflict helped to put dates and times into perspective, and was an essential reference source that I utilized to make sense of other primary sources.

"CAIN: Events: Bloody Sunday - Chronology." CAIN: Northern Ireland Conflict, Politics, and Society. Information on 'the Troubles' Web. 12 Dec. 2011. <http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/events/bsunday/chron.htm>.

I used this as a supplement to the Saville inquiry of Bloody Sunday. As the Saville inquiry is very extensive and complex, this analysis and breakdown of Bloody Sunday was a great supplement to aid in my understanding. I referred to it often while learning about Bloody Sunday from other primary source documents.

"CAIN: Events: Deployment of Troops: O Dochartaigh, Niall (1997) 'The British Army'"CAIN:

Northern Ireland Conflict, Politics, and Society. Information on 'the Troubles' Web. 26 Nov. 2011. <http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/events/troops/chap4.htm>.

This excerpt provided information on the British military and their deployment to Northern Ireland. I referred to it extensively while working on the British Army section of the background tab of my site. It greatly increased my understanding of the British armys role in Northern Ireland.

"CAIN: Events: Stetler, R. (1970) The Battle of Bogside: The Politics of Violence in Northern Ireland." CAIN: Northern Ireland Conflict, Politics, and Society. Information on 'the Troubles' Web. 12 Dec. 2011. <http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/events/battlebogside/stetler/stetler70.htm>.

Although this document does contain primary source information, I utilized only the secondary source portion. This portion told about the history of the events leading up to the Battle of Bogside, and helped me to understand why it happened. I referred to it when looking at the primary source document I utilized for the Battle of Bogside.

"CAIN: Issues: Housing: Intimidation in Housing by John Darby (1974)." CAIN: Northern Ireland Conflict, Politics, and Society. Information on 'the Troubles' Web. 12 Dec. 2011. <http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/issues/housing/docs/nicrc.htm>.

This site provides information on the persecution of Catholics in relation to housing. While I did not find it to be excessively informative, it was helpful when used in context with other documents. It gave insight into one aspect of the problem, and therefore allowed me to understand Catholic persecution as a whole.

"CAIN: Sutton Index of Deaths." CAIN: Northern Ireland Conflict, Politics, and Society. Information on 'the Troubles' Web. 12 Dec. 2011. <http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/sutton/alpha/N.html>.

I used this recently created chronology of deaths to find out information about those killed in the Ballygawley attack. While it wasnt extremely useful, it was helpful in finding out more about the Ballygawley attack. I used it as my source of information when I outlined the events of the attack.

"CAIN: Symbols, A Short Essay." CAIN: Northern Ireland Conflict, Politics, and Society. Information on 'the Troubles' Web. 12 Dec. 2011. <http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/images/symbols/mulhern.htm>.

This site was largely unhelpful. The only use for this site was to learn more about the Ulster flag, which in turn led me to make the decision to utilize a picture of the Ulster flag on my site. The background information was nice, but not all that important or helpful.

Ross, F. Stuart. Smashing H-block: The Rise and Fall of the Popular Campaign against Criminalization, 1976-1982. Liverpool: Liverpool UP, 2011. Print. This was a valuable source for providing secondary source information on the hunger strikes, and backing up other sources on the topic. It was very comprehensive and helpful.
