PROPOSAL FOR INSTALLATION OF CAPSULE LIFT FOR PREMISES AT IB-3 & IB-4 OF SKYLIT HOUSING CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD,

SALT LAKE.

Intoduction Lift is now a necessity item for multi-storied apartment building for residents of all floors.Most members and their family memebers of our co-operative are getting older and have difficulties while climbing up using staircase to respective floors.Also in case of emergency arising out to due to critical health problem such as heart attack, fructuture in lower limbs, respiratory trouble etc, lift is the only option to take immediate action to attend the patient for getting a doctor and/or getting admitted to a hospital.The lift will also be helpful to the residents for easy access to the roof for multipurpose use.In these contexts, it has become necessary to install lift for both buildings at IB-3 & IB-4. Installation Work a) Location As per Municipality rules, capsule lift is permitted to be installed in a open vacant space within the boundery limit of the concerned building. Buildings at IB3 & IB4 have got the necessary space in between two wings infront of the staircase to install a lift to accommodate four persons without disturbing any part of the building structure as shown in attached Sketch no. 1 & 2.Access to the lift will be through the landings between the floors inside the staircase. b) Construction Lift well will be constructed as an independent structure with reinforced concrete raft foundation ,columns(4nos at corners )and beams frame at different levels and brickwalls with windows&collapsible doors as required.Machine room will be located at the top within the lift structure with an access door from the roof of the building. A pit with brickwall on all sides will be made on the foundation raft to accommodate pedestals , springs for resting the lift cage . Necessary care shall be taken to avoid fouling with underground utility lines like supply power cable and water pipelines during construction of foundation.

c) Equipment Installation After construction of the lift well and the machine room is complete, installation of lift cage,motors, guiding channels, and other accessories along with electricals will be carried out in steps by equipment supplier. All works comprising of supplying and installation of all machineries,lift cage with collapsible doors with frames for the lift cage and landings of staircase,supplying and fixing of main switch at ground floor and in the machine room, supplying, laying and fixing electrical cables and G.I.wire for connection to all switches at different levels and for earthing are in the scope of equipment suppliers. Budgetory Cost After exploring several lift manufacturing company in and around Kolkata, who had supplied and erected lift in several co-operative and similar multi storied building in Salt Lake Area and the present building material and construction following budgetary cost has been worked out for installation of lift in each building:a) b) c) d) Equipment Cost as per item 2c -- Rs. 3,00,000 (rupees three lacs) Construction of Lift Well -- Rs. 4,00,000 (rupees four lacs) Power supply from WBPDCL -- Rs. 50,000(rupees fifty thousand) Miscellaneous Works -- Rs. 30,000 (rupees thirty thousand) Total Cost -- Rs. 7,80,000(rupees seven lacs and eighty thousand )

Action Plan a) Apply to Salt Lake Municipality for sanction of the revised plan of buildings showing provision of lift of each building along with No Objection Letter from the Co-operative Society through an empannelled Architectural Firm b) Finalisation of lift supplier through tenders and negotiation. c) Apply to WBPDCL for sanctioning requisite 3-phase 440V power supply with a meter as per specification of lift supplier. d) Employ a contractor firm for design and construction of lift well.Construction materials may be supplied by the co-operative.

e) Form a nodal committee to raise the budgetary fund for each building through voluntary contributions from the members of the co-operative. Time of execution Formal proceedings as per action plan described above may take 2 to 3 months through parallel activities. Design ,construction and installation work of lift will take 3 to 4 months if funds are available. Total time period of execution of the project after getting the necessary No Objection Letter from the Co-operative Society will be around six to seven months.
