NAME: Mother Teresa of Calcutta Nationality: By blood, she is Albania, By citizenship, an Indian Work: a mother to the poor, a symbol of compassion to the world, and a living witness to the thirsting love of God Dates: 1910-1997 Achievements : She was the recipient of numerous honours including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize. Key events: At the age of eighteen, moved by a desire to become a missionary, Gonxha left her home in September 1928 to join the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, known as the Sisters of Loreto, in Ireland. On 24 May 1937, Sister Teresa made her Final Profession of Vows, becoming, as she said, the spouse of Jesus for all eternity. From that time on she was called Mother Teresa. She continued teaching at St. Marys and in 1944 became the schools principal. A person of profound prayer and deep love for her religious sisters and her students, Mother Teresas twenty years in Loreto were filled with profound happiness. Noted for her charity, unselfishness and courage, her capacity for hard work and a natural talent for organization, she lived out her consecration to Jesus, in the midst of her companions, with fidelity and joy. On 7 October 1950 the new congregation of the Missionaries of Charity was officially established in the Archdiocese of Calcutta. By the early 1960s, Mother Teresa began to send her Sisters to other parts of India. The Decree of Praise granted to the Congregation by Pope Paul VI in February 1965 encouraged her to open a house in Venezuela. It was soon followed by foundations in Rome and Tanzania and, eventually, on every continent. Starting in 1980 and continuing through the 1990s, Mother Teresa opened houses in almost all of the communist countries, including the former Soviet Union, Albania and Cuba.

NAME: Ayrton Senna Nationality: Brazilian Work: racing driver Dates: 1960-1994 Achievements : Senna was a three-time Formula One world champion and is widely regarded as one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time Key events: He was killed in a crash at Tamburello corner while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix and is the most recent driver to die at the wheel of a Formula One car. Senna began his motorsport career in karting, moving up to open-wheel racing in 1981, and winning the British Formula 3 championship in 1983. He made his Formula One debut with Toleman-Hart in 1984 before moving to Lotus-Renault the following year and winning six Grands Prix over the next three seasons. In 1988, he joined Frenchman Alain Prost at McLarenHonda. Between them, they won all but one of the 16 Grands Prix that year and Senna his first World Championship.

NAME: DIANA , Princess of Wales Nationality: british Work: Princess of Wales Dates: (1 iulie 1961 31 august 1997) Achievements : was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, whom she married on 29 July 1981. She was also well known for her fund-raising work for international charities, and an eminent celebrity of the late 20th century Key events: Diana was born into an aristocratic English family with royal ancestry and became a public figure with the announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles. Diana also received recognition for her charity work and for her support of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines. From 1989, she was the president of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, in addition to dozens of other charities. She remained the object of worldwide media scrutiny during and after her marriage, which ended in divorce on 28 August 1996. Media attention and public mourning were great after her death in a car crash in Paris on 31 August 1997.

NAME: PABLO PICASSO Nationality: Spanish Work: Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer. Dates: 1881-1973 Achievements : One of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, he is widely known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture, [2][3] the co-invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore. Key events: In 1895, Picasso was traumatized when his seven-year-old sister, Conchita, died of diphtheria. After her death, the family moved to Barcelona, where Ruiz took a position at its School of Fine Arts. Picassos work is often categorized into periods. While the names of many of his later periods are debated, the most commonly accepted periods in his work are the Blue Period (19011904), the Rose Period (19051907), the African-influenced Period (19081909), Analytic Cubism (19091912), and Synthetic Cubism (19121919). In 193940 the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, under its director Alfred Barr, a Picasso enthusiast, held a major and highly successful retrospective of his principal works up until that time. This exhibition lionized the artist, brought into full public view in America the scope of his artistry, and resulted in a reinterpretation of his work by contemporary art historians and scholars.
