Eat More Ice Cream!

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. He recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90% of the nations population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called for all people of the United States to observe these events with appropriate ceremonies and activities. The International Ice Cream Association (IICA) encourages retailers and consumers to celebrate July as National Ice Cream Month. In 2011, National Ice Cream Day will be Sunday, July 17. The U.S. ice cream industry generates more than $21 billion in annual sales and provides jobs for thousands of citizens. About 9% of all the milk produced by U.S. dairy farmers is used to produce ice cream, contributing significantly to the economic well-being of the nations dairy industry. Founded in 1900, IICA is the trade association for manufacturers and distributors of ice cream and other frozen dessert products. The associations activities range from legislative and regulatory advocacy to market research, education and training. Its 80 member companies manufacture and distribute an estimated 85% of the ice cream and frozen dessert products consumed in the United States.

Payroll Forms Must Be Updated

The Hot Wash page

When submitting any payroll changes please be sure that you are using the updated forms. Payroll cannot enter any requested changes that are on forms that contain the name Washington Division. If you have saved the old forms on your hard drive, you will need to replace them with the updated forms. If you submit an old form or a form that has not been signed, it will be returned to the employee unprocessed requesting the corrected form or signature. The updated forms can be found on Virtual Office and the PBCDF Web page.

MRTL Parking
Medical Response Team Leaders (MRTLs) are physicians (including Dr. Victor Nwiloh) trained and credentialed to respond to the site within 60 minutes if there is an injury or contamination to employees related to chemical. The MRTL parking is reserved for the physicians to maintain easy access to the Medical Clinic in case of an emergency. Please do not park in the space labeled MRTL.

0800 Meeting, 13 July 2011: Mike Napoli was recognized as having done a great job with meeting with Ops about the heating up of the BDS. Mike asked a lot of questions that needed to be asked to make sure the planning was all done beforehand on this major task. Mike used technical inquisitiveness to make sure he knew all the details on the job. 0800 Meeting, 14 July 2011: The personnel in the Air Monitoring Department were recognized for their outstanding achievement with the recent CMA Criteria. The CMA Criteria requires an ACAMS test to be 95% or above, which is a rather daunting task, but the workers in the Air Monitoring Department did all the necessary duties to make sure the ACAMS passed this rigorous testing.

WIZARDS Lunches
Wizard's would like to continue serving the needs of the URS employees. They will be offering any item that is on Wizard's menu (located on S:\HotWash Weekly) plus the Wizards URS Menu also located on S:\HotWash Weekly. Orders for all food items, even the daily lunch specials, must be called in by 10:30 a.m. They will deliver to the URS lunch trailer from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Wow!
Pismo Beach, California boasts of the worlds largest clam or clams, there are actually two. It makes a great spot for the Pismo Rules and Regulations for clamming. The clams (made of reinforced concrete approximately 8 feet tall, 2.5 feet wide, and molded in the shut position) were created by the late Freeman Davis, a local resident and sculptor for many years. Wow!
