HOT WATER BOTTLE COVER designed by: Lori Utley (KnitZilla) 2 skeins Worsted Weight Yarn (soft and washable is best) makes 2 covers in stripes, or one in a solid Size US 8 needles circular needle Sample: Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller Bamboo Ewe (55% vicose from bamboo and 45% wool) 100 grams 177 yards INSTRUCTIONS CAST ON: Cast on using magic method cast on, 24 sts on each needle (total 48 sts). For magic co, see: http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html INCREASE: ROW 1: k all. ROW 2: *k1, m1, k to last 2 sts, m1, k1*, repeat * to * (52 sts). Repeat ROW 2, 6 times. (38 sts each side or 76 sts total). Slip in bottle to assure a snug fit. If bottle is too tight, knit another increase row. BODY: Knit in rounds (changing yarn color every 8 rows for striped version), until piece measure 10 inches from cast on edge, or until it reaches to shoulders of your bottle. SHOULDERS: ROWS 1 through 10 - *k1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1*, repeat * to * 1 time more. (36 sts) remaining sts must be divisible by 4 to accommodate 2 x 2 ribbed collar. COLLAR: Transfer to dbl pnt needles, if wished. Knit in 2 x 2 rib for 6.5 inches. Bind off loosely in rib. Fold empty bottle to insert.
