User Safety
WARNING! User functions: For safety reasons the user may only - Remove the finishing panels for air filter exchange - Operate the UPS display. CAUTION! The system is equipped with an optional auto-start function, enabling the system to start without any warning when power is applied. Typically, the UPS installation will be connected to an EPO (Emergency Power Off) button located on a wall near the entrance to the room. If activated, the EPO switches off power to the UPS, disconnects the UPS output, and switches off power to the entire room. This action may disconnect support to the load as well.
Note
System Overview
UPS Sections
Inverter Section
The Inverter Section regulates the UPS output and operates from battery power in the event of utility input loss.
Control Section
The Control Section controls and monitors the UPS and the Static Switch Module (incorporated in the Control Section).
Input/Output Section
The Input/Output Section provides electrical connection of input and output.

Operational Modes
On-line Operation
During on-line operation, the critical load is supported by the inverters. The main inverter controls the output voltage and the delta inverter controls the input current. The delta inverter also provides battery-charging current. While the UPS is running in this mode, a single-line diagram will appear on the screen. The green line indicates the power flow from the utility supply through the UPS to the load. CAUTION! Do not open Q2, Q4, or Q6 when the UPS is in on-line operation, as it may result in a load drop.

Battery Operation
During battery operation, the load is supported by the inverters. The inverters are supplied by battery power, ensuring uninterrupted support to the load. While the UPS is running in battery operation, a single-line diagram will appear on the screen with a green line indicating the power flow from the batteries through the Main Inverter to the load for as long as the batteries are energized. CAUTION! Do not open Q2, Q4, Q6, Q7 or Q8 when the UPS is in battery operation, as it may result in a load drop.

Bypass Operation
During bypass operation, the critical load is supplied directly by utility power. A single-line diagram will appear on the screen with an orange line indicating the power flow through the External Bypass SSW to the load. CAUTION! Do not open Q4, Q5 or Q6 when the UPS is in bypass operation, as it may result in a load drop.

Touch the Enable Network field to connect or disconnect the UPS from the network. Touch the IP address field to assign an IP address for the UPS. Assign the Subnet Mask, Gateway, Primary and Secondary DNS Servers, Hostname, and Domain Name in the same way. Use the BMS Modbus RTU address field to monitor the UPS with a Building Management System, using the modbus RTU protocol. For more information on system monitoring using BMS, contact APC Technical Support. Selecting the Enable APC RMS checkbox will cause the UPS to send information to APCs Remote Monitoring Service. Visit www.apc.com to learn more about this service.
Note
HTTP Proxy Server Connection Settings (for RMS): The APC RMS uses the HTTP Protocol to post information to the APC RMS database. If the internet connection is a proxy server, then enter the required Proxy Server Connection Settings on the Network Configuration screen. A
21
Proxy Server acts as an agent between a workstation user or other networked device and the Internet so that the security, administrative control and caching service can be regulated. Use Proxy: Select this checkbox if the Internet connection method uses an HTTP Proxy Server to connect to the Internet. Enter the following values (required): Proxy Server IP Address: Enter the fully qualified IP address of the Proxy Server in this field if the internet connection is a Proxy Server, e.g. 159.215.123.116 Proxy Server Port: Enter the port number of the Proxy Server in this field if a Proxy Server is used. If you do not know the server address or port number, contact the network administrator. Use Authentication: Select this checkbox if the Proxy Server requires authentication. Supply a login (username) and password. Enter these values in the Proxy Server Login and Proxy Server Password fields. Select the Apply Changes button when all information has been entered. RMS is not available on the External Bypass Static Switch.
Note
To view the other network settings screens, press the arrow down button.

The E-mail function can be enabled or disabled using the Enable E-mail field. An existing SMTP server on the Network is required to send an E-mail. Touch the SMTP Server field, and enter the name of the SMTP Server (for example, mail.server.com). Messages sent by the UPS require a From Address. The From Address appears as the sender of the E-mail. Touch the From Address field and enter a valid E-mail address. Touch the Recipient Address field to enter the addresses of the E-mail recipient(s). In the Minimum Severity field, specify the severity of alarms that will cause an E-mail to be sent. Touch the Add/Update Entry button to add a new recipient to the list. To change an existing address, touch the address on the list. This address will then appear in the Recipient Address field; touch it again to edit and select the Add/Update Entry button. To remove an address from the list, touch the address. The address will then appear in the Recipient Address field. Select the Remove button to delete it. Select the Apply Changes button after all changes have been made. Use the Test E-mail button to ensure that the E-mail configuration is correct. Touching this button will cause a test E-mail to be sent to all configured E-mail recipients.
23
SNMP Settings
The UPS can be set to send SNMP traps if UPS alarms occur. Each trap contains a description of the alarm condition. The trap receiver must have the APC PowerNet MIB (version 3.6.1 or later). Available from www.apc.com. Configure the Network Settings (as described in the Network Settings section) prior to configuring the SNMP Settings.

Air Filter Exchange
Check air filters at regular intervals (every 3 months under normal working conditions) for accumulated dust on the surface facing the finishing panels. Change all filters at the same time.
Dead front panel
Finishing panel
Pull upper finishing panel free of the dead front panel. Lift finishing panel free of the dead front panel and remove. Follow this procedure to remove the next finishing panel down, until all panels in one row have been removed. Use the same procedure for the next row of panels until all panels have been removed from the UPS system.
Remove the air filter and install the new filter. Refit finishing panels in reverse order.
