General conditions satisfy the site standing instructions as listed in the plant item commissioning essential prerequisites. The name plate legend agrees with the approved NTPC Plant Nomenclature is clearly visible, properly fixed, durable and correct with labels.

The installation is complete and correct in accordance with latest drawings. Access for adjustment, maintenance and repairs is satisfactory. Necessary lifting tools have been provided for future maintenance, if applicable. Lubricating facilities are satisfactory and correct grades of oil/grease have been applied. Confirm plant undamaged, fixed and mounted satisfactorily. Check that oil level in bearings can be adequately monifored. Check that there are adequate facilities for filling and draining of oil. Check that pump is free to rotate and DOR is marked.

Check that all foreign materials and temporary fixtures/supports are removed. Check expansion joints. Check that all valves are opening and closing freely (by hand) and check remote operation of the valves, if provided. Check the tightness of the flange joints and no fitting element is missing. Check the alignment with prime mover is proper and collect the alignment readings for future maintenance.

Check that all moving parts are adequately guarded.

Check that suction strainers / filters , if any, are provided correctly. If water cooled, check supply of cooling water to bearing housing. Check whether temperature measuring instruments are provided for bearings. Check the motor as per instrument manual of the manufacturer. Check the earthing facilities of the motor. Check the location of the EPB for easy accessibility.

Confirm the motor IR healthiness. Confirm the lubrication of the motor. Confirm the DOR of the motor If the pump is running normal , keep the pump running for 8 hrs. if continuous requirement of running equipments and 4 hrs. if intermittent requirement of running equipments. Ensure that there is no leakage of prime fluid or lub oil from any point. Check the vibration at various bearings of fan and gs of pump motor and record them. Check pump shut off pressure and normal working pressure. Check the R.P.M. Check that all drains ( glands, pump casing,bed plate etc.) are piped to a suitable destination.
