Environmental Issues For Toyota, environmental concern and reaching out to the community go hand in hand. Toyota aims to "establishing a lowcarbon society," "establishing a recycling-based society," and "environmental protection and establishing a society in harmony with nature" (3). In order to promote and expand contributions to the environment Toyota has set goals for the company. To put these goals in action they have begun to reduce the environmental impact at all stages of the vehicles life cycle. What this means to us is that from the development and design of its cars, to production, waste and recycling of older models, Toyota has revamped their style of producing these vehicles to promote environmental management. Toyota has a long history of concern for the environment, and has actively looked for ways to improve its products introducing the worlds first street legal, and massive production hybrids in the Prius and a few of their other models. They continue to act and invest a lot of money into R&D to improve their technologies for a more ecologically friendly product. Toyota consistently examines products, business strategies, and daily operations. Whether its from dealers, to manufacturers, to the workers in the factories, the company believes in maintaining its relations with its customers, and all employees to try and keep the "customer first" policy. Toyota uses direct consultations with customers, complaints, and also quality reports from dealers and purchasers of new cars. Toyota also posses a Customer Relations Division which hears out the thoughts of individual customers. This center handles consultations and complaints, which it then used to improve its customer satisfaction. The Division received about 200,000 complaints from people this year.
