Radio Network Lab User Guide

1.1 Introduction to Radio Network Lab

The radio network lab is in compliance with the information security requirements. You can log
in to it through the VPN technology in the event that the internal network of Huawei.

You can access the radio network lab through the L2TP server.

Use the LMT and remote desktop to visit the network equipment.

Confirm the versions of equipment with the administrator because the versions are often
updated.

1.2 Precautions of Using the Radio Network


Lab
Comply with the following requirements when using the radio network lab:

Make an application before five days. You can use the radio network lab after the
application is approved.

Submit the application form by the email of wireless-training@huawei.com.

Do not use other equipment except the specified equipment when using the radio network
lab.

Ensure that your operations comply with the application.

Access the internal network of Huawei to visit the radio network lab.

Apply for and install the corresponding LMT software in advance and ensure that your PC
is safe before connecting to the network.

Download the corresponding hands-on SOW before making exercises , the links are as
below.

1.3.1 Operation Process

1.3.2 Creating an L2TP Connection


WINDOWS XP Operating System
To create an L2TP connection, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Network Connections.
The Network Connections window is displayed.
Step 2 Select Create a new connection, and then click Next.
Step 3 Select Connect to the network at my work place, and then click Next.
Step 4 Select Virtual private network connection, and then click Next.
Step 5 Type the name of your workplace, and then click Next.
Step 6 Type the gateway address of the L2TP, such as 10.69.23.100, and then select Anyone's use.
The associated user names and passwords used for the L2TP connection are listed in
6.

To set the properties of the L2TP connection, perform the following steps:
Step 1 Double-click the L2TP connection.
The Connect VPN dialog box is displayed, as shown in 1.1.
Step 2 Type the proper user name and password, select Save this user name and password for the
following users, and then select Me only.
Step 3 Click Connect.
The VPN Properties dialog box is displayed, as shown in 1.2.
Step 4 Click Security, select Advanced [customer settings], and then click OK.
The Advanced Security Settings dialog box is displayed, as shown in 1.3.
Step 5 Select Allow these protocols, and then select the required protocols, including Unencrypted
password [PAP], Microsoft CHAP [MS-CHAP], and Microsoft CHAP Version 2 [MS-CHAP
v2].

1.3.3 Logging In to the Equipment


After accessing the network lab through the L2TP connection, log in to the equipment through
the associated LMT. You need to apply for the management address of the equipment, and the
user name and password of the LMT.

1.3.4 Exiting from the Network Lab


Before exiting from the network lab, you need to restore the equipment to the initial
configuration. For details about how to restore the equipment to the initial configuration, refer
to the Hands-On SOW.

1.4.2 Hands-On Operations


The radio network lab supports such hands-on operations as routine operation and maintenance,
data configuration, and service tests. In the future, you can make exercises, such as remote
upgrade.
For details on the operations, refer to the Hands-On SOW.

The radio network lab supports the associated equipment, listed in 1.4.3.
