Dear Art/Music Practitioner INVITATION TO APPLY FOR ART & MUSIC INSTRUCTORS SCHEME (AMIS) 1.

We are pleased to inform you that the Ministry of Education (MOE) has introduced this scheme as part of our continuous effort to provide additional teaching resources in Art and Music education to schools. Through the joint effort and expertise of our qualified teachers and practitioners in the community, MOE hopes to raise the quality of Art and Music education in schools. 2. Instructors under the AMIS scheme will enjoy flexible working arrangements in terms of the duration committed and workload. You may be required by the school to do classroom teaching in the delivery of the Art and Music curriculum and/or conduct mass arts enrichment classes in support of the Art and Music curriculum. 3. The features of AMIS are as follows: a) Flexible Working Hours You can negotiate with the school on the number of hours you commit to in a week. Appointment Period You will be required to serve a commitment period that can range from a minimum period of 4 weeks to a maximum of 10 weeks. Upon mutual agreement, this commitment period can be renewed. Job Scope You may be required to perform teaching duties in the classrooms delivering the Art and Music curriculum. You may also be called upon to conduct mass enrichment programmes that support the curriculum, or a combination of both. Payment You will be paid on an hourly basis which can range from $35 to $80 per hour. This will be dependent on the schools decision based on your experience and expertise in meeting the schools specific needs. Curriculum Workshop and Administrative Briefing You will be required to complete a 0.5-day Art/Music curriculum workshop to familiarise yourself with the Art/Music syllabus and briefing on the administrative aspect of this scheme. Teacher Preparatory Course In view of your involvement in the classroom delivering the Art and/or Music curriculum, you may be required by the school to complete a 2.5-day teacher preparatory course (for those without formal teaching qualifications).

4. Please refer to the selection criteria (Annex A) for the AMIS instructors. If you are interested to participate in the scheme, please complete the attached application form (Annex B) and submit it with the necessary supporting documents to MOE. Upon successful application, MOE will forward the list of Art and Music practitioners to the schools. The schools will use this list to identify suitable practitioners for interviews. These interviews aim to assess if the practitioner can cater to the schools needs. 5. Annex A SELECTION CRITERIA FOR AMIS INSTRUCTORS Art Instructors at Primary Level Prospective Art instructors: 1. Must be above 18 years of age; 2. Preferably possess at least 5 GCE O Level passes (or equivalent) incl. English in one sitting; 3. Have acquired relevant work experience in Art-related fields: a) Professional work in Art, e.g. as an artist, etc. and/or b) Teaching of Art, e.g. as an instructor, etc. Music Instructors at Primary Level Prospective Music instructors: 1. Must be above 18 years of age; 2. Preferably possess at least 5 GCE O Level passes (or equivalent) incl. English in one sitting; 3. Have acquired relevant work experience in Music-related fields: a) Professional work in Music, e.g. as a conductor, etc. and/or b) Teaching of Music, e.g. as an instructor, etc. Application Processing Applications will be processed at the end of every month. Successful applicants will be notified by post (about a months time). Final Selection of Instructors for AMIS List Prospective instructors would be required to complete a 0.5-day Curriculum Workshop and Administrative Brief on this scheme.
