In recent years, important research eorts have provided a solid theoretical background for a new generation of the so-called Boussinesq-type wave equations. This class of equations have proven to adequately describe most of the water-wave phenomena taking place in the near-shore area. The Green-Naghdi set of equations, historically introduced in [1], is one of these fully non-linear and weakly dispersive models. The question of constructing ecient, stable and accurate numerical schemes to solve this set of equations have received considerably less attention. In this paper, the construction of a high-order hybrid Finite-Volume and Finite-Dierence numerical scheme for a set of Green-Naghdi equations with varying topography, derived in [3] by asymptotic development of a Dirichlet-Neumann operator, is considered. The Green-Naghdi equations can be written under the following form, in non-dimensionalized variables:

t + (hV ) = 0, (I + T [, b])t V +

+ (V

)V + Q[, b](V ) = 0,

where , , are suitable non-dimentionalized parameters, is the free surface elevation, V the horizontal velocity, h = 1 + b, is the water height and the linear operator T [, b] and the quadratic form Q[, b]() are dened for all smooth enough Rd -valued function W by T [, b]W Q[, b](W ) = R1 [, b]( = R1 [, b]( W ) + R2 [, b]( b W ) (W W ) 2( W ) ) + R2 [, b]((W

In a rst time, we consider the 1D version of system (1), which is recasted to obtain a system of conservation laws (namely the shallow water equations) with source terms, including all the remaining operators. This new

system is then factorized by a suitable operator to decrease the maximum order of the derivatives, as third order derivatives are often sources of numerical diculties. In a second time, we introduce a splitting numerical scheme to solve this new system. Numerical investigations have shown that due to numerical dissipation and occurence of dispersive eects, high order accuracy schemes (typically higher than second order) have to be used to suciently reduce dissipation and allow propagation of surface waves over long times without generation of too much numerical dispersion. Therefore, considering the shallow water-like part of the system, we have implemented a Godunov-like FiniteVolume scheme with a fth order WENO reconstruction [5], together with negative weight splitting technique [6]. Well-balancing properties, needed to accurately compute interactions between incident waves and the varying bottom, are obtained within the framework of the hydrostatic reconstruction [4], together with the fourth-order discretization of the source term introduced in [7]. Lastly, to reduce the limitation of the CFL constraint and to also achieve a fourth-order accuracy in time, a suitable SSP-RK method is used [2]. Relying on Strangs splitting , the remaining terms are discretized within a fourth order Finite-Dierence approach, together with accurate relations (interpolation) to obtain nodes values from cell-averaged Finite-Volume cell values. The resulting hybrid scheme is then validated relying on several benchmarks tests available in the literature, including solitary wave propagation and shoaling, periodic solutions over at bottom and reection against a vertical solid wall. Inuence of topography on the shoaling properties of incidents waves are highlighted.
