Currently, the company does not have a Retention Policy. In the last year the company lost a number of key employees. This cost the company: training time and investment in new staff to replace those who left lost knowledge because those who left took the knowledge with them coworkers who felt insecure with these key employees leaving costly candidate search inside because we do not have a data base of information on all staff and their talents and capabilities

Having a key employee retention policy will enable the organization to keep its key employees and eliminate the costs to the company of hiring new recruits to replace them.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

THE OBJECTIVE The company needs to retain the best employees to ensure: customer satisfaction, product sales, satisfied staff at all levels, effective succession planning and entrenchment of organizational knowledge and learning.

Currently, the company does not have a Retention Policy. In the last year the company lost a number of key employees. This cost the company: training time and investment in new staff to replace those who left lost knowledge because those who left took the knowledge with them coworkers who felt insecure with these key employees leaving costly candidate search inside because we do not have a data base of information on all staff and their talents and capabilities

Having a key employee retention policy will enable the organization to keep its key employees and eliminate the costs to the company of hiring new recruits to replace them. THE GOALS The company now requires a Retention Policy to keep its key employees. The goal of these interventions: Keep key employees Ensure customer satisfaction Ensure product sales at current levels Ensure staff satisfaction Ensure effective succession planning Ensure organizational knowledge and learning stays in the organization

THE SOLUTION The Management Team will endeavour to make sure that the best employees stay in the organization. They will: Give their employees a competitive salary, competitive vacation and holidays and tuition reimbursement Task 2 Page 3

The company offers both public and bespoke programmes. The public programmes are offered on a monthly basis and the bespoke programmes are offered as and when they are requested by the Clients. The company has 50 trainers whose experience spans the world and a full-time administrative and marketing and sales staff totaling 20. The company has a client base of 500 all of whom are located in the GCC. .

RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION STRATEGY


The Management Team will follow these Retention Strategies: RECRUITMENT Select the right people in the first place. They will do this by interviewing the candidates thoroughly and use psychometric testing to assist in their decision. Also, they will ask experiential questions to get answers from the candidates. REMUNERATION They will make sure that the staff is given attractive, competitive salary packages. This will include a balance of monetary and non-monetary rewards. The salary packages will be constructed around these elements:

Compensation Benefits Work-Life Performance and Recognition Development and Career Opportunities The right mix of these elements will result in employee satisfaction and engagement. This in turn, results in improved business performance and results. DEVELOPMENT They will provide opportunities for their staff to share their knowledge in various forums, like training sessions, presentations, mentoring and team assignments. They will give performance feedback and always commend good work and effort. They will make sure that their staff enjoys their work. They will make sure that they use the special talents of each of the employees. They will involve their employees in decisions that affect their jobs and the strategy of the organization They will recognize excellent performance and link pay to performance They will recognize and celebrate success where goals are achieved by employees Task 2 Page 5

They will provide opportunities within the company for cross-training and career progression so that people know they have the potential to move to higher positions within the company Training and development comes third for employees when it comes to them staying with the organization. They consider their salary packages and their relationship with their immediate superiors as number one and two respectively. RESPECT They will show their respect for their employees at all times. They will listen to them. They will ask them for their ideas and they will use their ideas. They will never be rude to them by, for example deriding them or mocking them. They will provide opportunities within the company for cross-training and career progression so that people know they have the potential to move to higher positions within the company WORK-LIFE BALANCE They will allow flexible starting times, flexible ending times and core business times. They will minimize overtime because they do not want to maintain a healthy work-life balance They will encourage employees to have good, even best, friends, at work They will encourage two-way communication and let people know what their roles and responsibilities are and what is expected of them.

These interventions will give employees the chance to achieve and maintain a good balance between work life and home life. This will result in: Improved employee performance and higher efficiency Higher level of self-esteem and fewer staff leaving the organization to go and work somewhere else Lower levels of sick leave Decrease in stress levels

All these could lead to a favourable company image. These results will take time to manifest and should be introduced to employees fairly.

BENEFITS OF THE RETENTION STRATEGY TO THE ORGANISATION


A retention strategy can help avert the dangers of an experienced employee quitting his or her job to go on and join a direct competitor. When they leave they take with them important business strategies that may be exploited by the competition.

A retention policy demonstrates the companys interest in employees professional development. When employees realize the company is investing in them, they reciprocate with loyalty which in turn would improve productivity levels for the company. An existing retention policy helps create a nice work atmosphere, eliminating wage demands and absenteeism. It creates positive attitudes among the employees that are required to make for an efficient workforce.
