A USF flag allocates a transmission turn on the UL slot which has the same slot number as the DL slot in which the flag was received An MS needs to detect USFs separately for each slot allocated for a UL TBF

EDA concept
The example below presents an UL TBF consisting of 4 timeslots (1, 2, 3, 4). The mobile receives a USF in timeslot 1 and can therefore transmit on slots 1, 2, 3 and 4 during the next block period
EDA allows a mobile to use more than two timeslots in UL. In BSS12, the maximum number of UL timeslots per UL TBF is four, which permits the following maximum UL bitrates:
GPRS with CS-1/CS-2, up to 48 kbit/s GPRS with CS-3/CS-4, up to 80 kbit/s EDGE, up to 236 kbit/s

Daily average number of requested TSLs for UL TBF allocations has increased after EDA activation. The allocation ratio has decreased which emphasize the PS territory size limitation.
DXB07621 is one the most contributor segments with regards to UL TSLs allocation increase mainly due to adequate PS territory size (allocation ratio remains stable despite the requests increase)
Requests of 3 and 4 timeslots for UL TBFs has increased at the cost of #2 TSLs requests. The trend is MS class dependant. 1 TSL requests still have the biggest share (around 95%).
EDA related allocation ratio is very low compared to the requests trend presented in the previous slide.
EGPRS payload has slightly increased. Maybe not linked to EDA activation
Drilling down to DXB07621. The PS territory size limitation is obvious from the GPRS throughput trend. EDGE throughput is stable.
EDA capable MS share in the network seems to be high. PS territory size strategy in the main limitation factor.
Conclusion
Due to PS territory size current configuration, the impact of EDA activation was not obvious from the end user experience point of view.
The EDA related statistics highlight as well that majority of EGPRS users might get EDA benefits.
The EGPRS quality of service will significantly improve once EDA and HMC (High Multislots Classes) features are combined with a proper PS territory size strategy
