Introduction to earthquake engineering: Coursework includes thorough knowledge of all aspect of earthquake related phenomenon. Design of industrial and high rise structures and their foundations. Through knowledge of IS Codes related to design of structures to earthquake forces. (Ex. IS 1893 and its revision, IS 13920). 2. Finite element methods (FEM) in Geotechnical Engineering: Coursework includes the application of FEM, (which is very powerful tool to solve all engineering problems) in geotechnical engineering. Analysis and Design of pile and raft foundations using FEM. Analysis of laterally loaded piles. 3. Seminar and Institute elective. Completed course work in June 2009 with the CPI of 7.25 out of 10 Research work: This includes a soil structure interaction problem in the area of earth anchors. The earth anchors are basically Tension Foundations. Progress: Till now six research papers on the topic are communicated to referred international journals all over the globe, out of these, 4 are published and 2 are under review.
