HYPOTHESES
H1: Social media use will correlate positively with social trust H2: Social media use will correlate positively with political efficacy H3: Social media use will correlate positively with political participation, especially online.

Research Question: How do culture and politics affect these basic relationships in each nation?

Newspaper & online news exposure matter But social media trumps all: Discussing politics on social media strongly correlates with political participation Political blogs & chatrooms also relevant Small group but social media use matters Remaining Questions: News exposure via social media irrelevant?
