THINGS TO REMEMBER BEFORE THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
Check the Lost and Found for any lost items. Return all library books and school textbooks. Notify the office if you will not be returning next year or will be starting late. Students return on August 20, 2012. Make sure your students Health/Enrollment Card is current with phone numbers, employment information and emergency contacts. If your child has medication in the school office, please pick it up on the last day of school, Tuesday, June 12th. All hot lunches must be pre-paid for the rest of the year. Students who owe for past lunches are expected to pay these charges prior to the last day of school. If your child has a balance at the end of the year, it will be carried forward to the next school year. Please call the kitchen at 252-5414 x132 for your child's lunch account balance.

Keep in mind they can be used for End of the Year Gifts, and your summer activities and shopping! ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARD THE NEW PLAYGROUND PROJECT. We have many different gift cards available in each of the following categories: Dining/Restaurants, Entertainment, Grocery Stores, Gas, Department Stores, Specialty Stores and American Express gift cards (no fee). You can also purchase Garden Gate gift certificates which give teachers the ability to select their own gift cards.

The Registrar of Voters website (www.sccvote.org) shows that Measure H has passed with over 65% of voter support. The District would like to thank all of the volunteers who worked countless hours rallying the community in support of the Measure. This facilities bond provides the District with vital funds to update our local schools. Additional bond information is available on the Districts website at www.cusdk8.org. The scope of the facilities repairs and upgrades fall in seven major categories: Growth Accommodation Code, Health, and Safety Classrooms Envelope (Integrity of Building Exteriors - Paint, Doors, Locks, etc.) Site Work (Infrastructure and Play Surfaces) Support Facilities (Non-Classroom Buildings) District Wide Improvements (Technology Infrastructure, Equipment, etc.) Sponsored by the Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation (CEEF) Calling all summer readers: help CEEF and CUSD while getting a chance to win cool prizes! CEEF Great Schools 2nd Annual Summer Read-a-thon: Ready, Set, Read! Every student with at least $10 in sponsorships will have a chance to win a pizza party; there will be drawings for additional prizes for every grade level in the District. Summer Registration
Registration will continue at the home school sites through June 22, 2012. After this date, registration will begin at the Cupertino Union School District Office, Student Assignment Department, from June 25 through August 10, 2012 for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade, and June 25 through August 7, 2012 for grades 6th through 8th. The District Office is located at 10301 Vista Drive in Cupertino, and will be open for registration from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Due to increased enrollment across the District, space is not guaranteed at the home school. The District does guarantee a space at an overflow school within the District.
Change of Residence
Please be aware that parents/guardians are required to notify the school site or the District Office of a change in residency within 10 days of moving. Parents/guardians may complete a Request for Transfer form at the time the change of residence is submitted if they wish to remain at the current school site. Approvals are based on adequate space availability and there are no guarantees that a student may continue at the current school site. All other Request for Transfer forms will be available on August 10, 2012 at the school of choice.
The Sedgwick Child Development Center (CDC), in partnership with the Cupertino Union School District, is currently taking applications for its free State Preschool Program for the fall of 2012. The program, which serves low-income three and four year old children, is located at Sedgwick Elementary School, 19200 Phil Lane in Cupertino. Children who will be three or four years old by November 1st may qualify. Priority is given to children who will be four by November 1, 2012. This 3 hour preschool program offers children many exciting learning experiences including math, pre-reading, cooking, science and creative arts, as well as the opportunity to work and play in both small and large group situations. Preschool activities are designed to help children make a successful transition to Kindergarten. Children attend three hours per day, five days a week.If your family does not qualify for the state funding, monthly tuition rates are available as well.
