Stage 1 Logarithmic Time Frame: 3 Function Topic: Laws of Logarithms days Content Standard: Performance Standard: The learner demonstrates The learner states and applies the laws understanding of the key concepts of of logarithms in simplifying logarithmic logarithmic function expressions Essential Understanding(s): The laws of logarithms can be applied in solving real-life problems. The learner will know: concepts of logarithm laws of logarithm application of laws of logarithm Essential Question(s): How are real-life problems involving laws of logarithms applied? The learner will be able to: state the laws of logarithm apply the laws of logarithm in simplifying logarithmic expressions work cooperatively in simplifying logarithmic expressions Stage 2 Evidence at the level of Performance Performance of problems formulated based on the following suggested criteria: real- life problems logarithmic expressions involving laws expressions problems are solved through the laws of logarithms

Product or Performance Task Problems formulated are based on real-life situations involve the laws of logarithms are solved through the laws of logarithm

Evidence at the level of Understanding The learner should be able to demonstrate understanding by covering the Six (6) Facets of Understanding. Explaining the process of deriving Laws of Logarithms using the concepts of logarithm and laws of exponents Criteria: Accurate Clear Appropriateness Interpreting the significance of the laws of logarithms that were derived in simplifying logarithmic expressions. Criteria Exactness Coherent Appropriateness Applying the laws of logarithms learned in simplifying logarithmic expressions Criteria Practical Usefulness

Appropriateness Developing Perspective on the various combinations of laws of logarithms to be used in simplifying logarithmic expressions. Criteria: Analytical Credible Insightful Showing Empathy by working cooperatively with the members of the group and extending assistance to those who have difficulty deriving the laws of logarithms Criteria: Sensitive Considerable Manifesting SelfKnowledge on the method of every individual in deriving laws of logarithms and in applying those laws in simplifying logarithmic expressions. Criteria: Accurate Credible Realistic

I. Explore Good afternoon, class! : Good afternoon, Sir! Please have a seat! Before we formally start our lesson, let us have a game entitled Hole-lo! Now I will group the class into two. The left side will be Group 1 and the right side will be Group 2. Listen carefully, because the two groups that were formed were not intended to compete with each other but will work cooperatively to answer set of problems and eventually try to guess what those numbers at front represent. Please read the directions of the game! : Each group will be provided with a box in front containing holes. Many of the holes have problems while others do not have. Each member of the group will try his/her luck to pick into the hole with problem. Those who will pick into the hole with problems should answer what is asked. Remember that each member of the group has only one chance in picking at the right hole so that everyone can participate. The class will only be given 2 minutes to solve the task. Remember that you should follow these rules x = log a P y = log a Q so that you will be guided accordingly. Put also in mind that it is not a competition between the 2 groups but it is a test on how the class will work together! If you can finish the task within two minutes then you will be given rewards at the end of the period. The game starts now!
