Documentation 2D graphics 1 UC1F1103MMT o Summary of the process Begin my assignment by searching suitable photos.

. First, I choose the dancing as my theme and obviously the teenagers and people who really interested in street dancing are my intended audience. 2 photos will be using for images manipulations, which are a dancer and busy New York Street. Background Since the photo of New York Street which I found have some words on the lane (Image 1), so I use clone stamp tool to remove the word Bus Lane (Image 2). I want to change the color and contrast my background image. To edit my images color, I adjust the image by using Color Balance [Ctrl+B] and Hue/Saturation [Ctrl+U] .Next, I choose Overlay blending mode for background. To adjust the contrast of the background, I use Curves by clicking [Ctrl+M] [Input=80, Output=73]. To make the street darker, I add some filter. Then, I get a whole black rectangular background and changed its bending mode into Color Burn. Main Character After I finished my background image, I will place the dancer (Image 3). Use the crop tool to cut my dancer from its background (Image 4). Place the dancer on the background images. As the dancer doesnt completely fit the image, I fix this by changing some color settings. I duplicate the layer of the dancer, and apply a dry brush filter [Brush Size: 1, Brush Detail: 8, Texture: 1]. Since it still has some watermarks on the dancer, I use the brush tool to patch it. Decoration Now all is done, but the street is dark, to give the whole image a vintage look, I apply some filter. But first, I find the brush control on the Brush palette. I select soft round 200 pixels brush. In the brush presets, I pick Texture, Color Dynamics, Noise and Smoothing. Then I apply the brush on the background and change it to Overlay bending mode. So now the images look brighter than just now. To create the motion, I duplicate twice the layers of the dancer, and select the Overlay blending mode, then place them below the layer of the dancer. For highlight on the dancer, I create a spotlight effect. I use Polygonal lasso tool and keep clicking till it show the shape of triangle. Next, I choose gradient and select the linear gradient tool which is in white and transparent color. Then, I drag the gradient color till i get the spotlight at 43% opacity. In these photo manipulations its all about the details, I decide to include the shadows of the dancer. Again, I duplicate the layer of the dancer, then apply color Overlay filter [Blend mode: Hard Mix, Opacity: 26%]. Place it below the dancer and distort it. I finalize my work by adding some typography [Font: Wild Wide, Color: f04b36 and ffffff], with drop shadow, then I distort it to make it parallel to the lane. I draw some colorful bar beside the dancer. Use rectangular marquee tool to draw a rectangular shape, then use the gradient tool to color, and set the blending mode to exclusion. After that, I group them into Decorative Light (R) and place them below the dancer layer. To the bar in the left hand side, I use the same method, but the normal bending mode, then, place them under black background layer. At last, I use brush tool [Master Diameter: 13/45; Hardness: 0; Foreground and Background Color: White] to draw some white spot on the background as decorative.

Documentation 2D graphics 2 UC1F1103MMT o Technical Problems Encountered I encountered few problems while doing my assignment. First, the photos in the website are not in high resolution, to enlarge it, I use PhotoZoom Pro trial version to resize. In the trial version, the watermarks will appear. But luckily, those watermarks can be cleared by using Photoshop [Spot Healing Brush Tool]. Second, the problem I confronted is the lack of the skill and creativity limitation. Photoshop is quite a new thing to me, and hard to explore more in that short period, even some books have been referenced but still not clear about the method. o Refence Image 1 New York Street (Before removing word) Link: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3124/3125386438_f5929e16bb.jpg
