NOTES
Do not join rounds or rows unless the directions indicate to join. Total number of stitches per row/round do not include sl st or ch These headbands are very changeable based on what you like best. Some options to change it up include: Length of strands by adding chains or chaining less Use different hook sizes to make larger or smaller embellishments and chains Sew button to the headband on the right side or wrong side Sew the strands far apart or close together for a different look Add more petals to the Five Petal Flower by working more sc into the second ch Add more rows of petals to the Layered 6 Petal Flower in the same manner as second Color changes

Strand Directions

Work a chain 12 inches (30.5) long for Newborn-6mo 14 inches (35.5 cm) long for 3-18 months 16 inches (40.5 cm) long for 1 - 10 years 18.5 inches (47 cm) for 10 years - Adult Turn, sc in second chain from hook, 2 sc ch until your second strand matches up to the first strands 3rd stitch (pic 1) Untwist and line chains up next to each other, work 3 sc into the first strands first three stitches (pic. 2) Ch 15, Turn (turn towards first strand - see pic 3), dc into 4th chain from hook (Skip 1ch, dc) repeat 5 times (pic 3)
Note: You can add 1 ch between the dcs if you are using a larger button, otherwise follow as directed or the button will slip out

*If making Double Strand Headband stop here, sl st into first strands sc and skip ahead to Finishing. 3 Sc 3 (on other side of 2nd strands 3 sc) (Optional: pick up the tail and weave it in) Ch until you meet scs on other two strands Untwist, line up Sc 3, sl st, and finish off leave a tail long enough to sew on button (pic 4) Finishing: Sew button onto the front or back side depending on which side you want facing out. Sew embellishments onto the three strands either in the middle (if you want directly on top of the head) or off center (if you want on the side of the head) see pic 5. Button will attach into the dc button holes at the back of the head. Note: If you want a beaded headband, thread beads onto yarn before crocheting and pull up into chains as chains are worked.

Rnd1: ch 2, 5 sc into first ch (5) Rnd2 Petals: [sl st, ch 2, 3 tc, ch 2, sl st] in each sc. Finish off, leave tail to sew. (15) Optional Centers Work 5 to7 sc into a magic circle, join with sl st to first sc. Pull tight, finish off. Sew to flower. Buttons, beads, etc work well for the center also. Flowers can also be left without a center. Sew these flowers side by side or stack them and sew together. Extra Large Picot Posy

Rnd1: ch 2, 5 sc in first ch Rnd2: [sl st, ch 10, sl st] in each sc Rnd3: [sl st, hdc, 7 dc, picot, 7 dc, hdc, sl st] in each ch 10 space, finish off (96) Embellish center with button, beads, etc. After you arrange your petals to look the way you want them to, you may want to sew them together on the bottom edges to keep them in place.
Rose
Row1: ch 38, turn, dc in 3rd chain from hook, [ch 2, skip one ch, dc] 17 times (18) Row2: turn, [sl st, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, sl st] in the first three ch 2 spaces, [sl st, ch 2, 6 dc, ch 2, sl st] in the remaining ch 2 spaces makes 18 petals total. Cut long tail and finish off. Roll up flower starting with the hdc petals on top, making as tight or loose as desired. Use tail to sew through the whole flower, making sure all petals are sewn and it is tight. (102) If you want a larger or smaller rose, increase the number of original chains in increments of 2 or decrease the number of chains by increments of 2 (every 2 ch makes one petal, except the last 2 which are the turning chs)
