Leading the Investment Funds Department, which provides support for private equity investment into emerging markets, Mr. Koh oversees 33 active funds with over $2.3 billion in commitments, with an additional $1.5 billion approved to 19 funds. As Chief Investment Strategist, Mr. Koh guides development of new products and strategic relationships for OPIC. Mr. Koh also served at OPICs Chief Financial Officer from 2010-2011. Pedro Simko was born in Buenos Aires of Austrian parents in 1957. After studying in the US (Princeton BA, magna cum laude, 1980; Harvard MBA, 1982), Pedro worked in marketing at Procter & Gamble in Switzerland, Middle East, UK, Ireland, Canada and Portugal from 1982 to 1988. From 1988 until 1991 he was Marketing Director for Jacobs Suchard, responsible for the chocolate business in Switzerland, as well as Toblerone and Sugus worldwide. In 1991, he co-founded SIMKO Communication, which quickly became one of Switzerlands largest and best known advertising agencies. In 2003, SIMKO became the first agency ever based in the French-speaking part of the country, to win the Campaign of the Year Award, Switzerlands most important creative prize. In 2004 SIMKO Communication joined forces with Saatchi & Saatchi to become Saatchi & Saatchi Simko. In 2005 and again in 2006, Saatchi & Saatchi Simko was the fastest growing office of Saatchi & Saatchi worldwide. The agency now ranks second in Switzerland. In May 2006, Pedro was named to Saatchi & Saatchis Worldwide Executive Board and in September 2007 he was appointed Europe, Middle East & Africa Client Director, as well as a member of the EMEA Executive Board.

A second stream of work looks at the implications of employee motivation for firm performance in different settings. In parallel to his faculty position at HEC, he is affiliated with INSEAD as a visiting researcher and the coordinator of the HEC Buyout Research program. His work has been published in leading academic journals and in various publications for practitioners. He regularly presents his research at academic conferences and private equity symposia and serves as an advisor to leading investors in the private equity industry. At HEC, he teaches a core course on business strategy and offers an elective on Management Buyouts.
