The North Platte Surgery Center (NPSC) is licensed as an independent, freestanding ambulatory surgery center (ASC) and performs surgeries that do not require an over-night admission following the surgical procedure(s). NPSC celebrated its 8th year of operation in May 2011 and has successfully grown and served North Platte and 15 surrounding counties each year since 2003. The first ASC opened in 1970 and today over 20 million surgeries are performed each year in the more than 6,000 surgery centers across the United States. What types of surgeries are performed at North Platte Surgery Center? NPSC performs, among many others, the following procedures within the following specialties; Orthopedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine, Family Physicians, ENT, Podiatry, GYN, and Oral. Why are ASCs, and specifically the North Platte Surgery Center, the best choice for outpatient surgery? 1. Patient safety and satisfaction is always the number one goal and our 98.8% patient satisfaction is driven by our staff expertise, convenience and efficiency. 2. Cost-effectiveness. Each year, Medicare saves an estimated $3 billion because procedures are performed at ASCs, rather than hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) due to different reimbursement models. Patients like ASCs because they bring them value. A study conducted by Blue Cross/Blue Shield revealed that, on average, procedures that are performed in ASCs cost 47% less than those same procedures performed in hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs).
