Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ ShareLife 2012

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the 2012 ShareLife Parish Campaign. Through your generosity, you are helping ShareLife agencies continue the valuable work they do for the poor and marginalized in our region. You have opened a door to new opportunities for thousands of the most vulnerable in our midst. For anyone who wishes to make a donation, you are still welcome to do so. You can drop your ShareLife envelopes in the offertory basket until July 31, 2012 or donate online at www.sharelife.org. Thank you for your generosity. Together we can work WONDERS!

June 10th Vocation Seeds

Receiving Eucharist is a real sign of unity in our Church. God nourishes us with the bread from heaven if we have ordained priests to celebrate the Liturgy. If you feel the inclination towards a Church vocation, call Fr. Hansoo at 416-968-0997 or email vocations@vocations.ca.

Anti-Bullying Legislation
Cardinal Collins Expresses Concerns On Recent Policy Changes in the Government Approach to Anti-Bullying Legislation As our elected officials consider pending legislation regarding anti-bullying initiatives impacting schools throughout the province, parishioners are invited to read a statement from Cardinal Collins that was released on May 28, 2012. The communication expresses deep concerns regarding a sudden change in policy by our government leaders. You are encouraged to visit the Archdiocese of Toronto website at: www.archtoronto.org to view the statement in its entirety. Additional resources can be found on the website of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario at: www.acbo.on.ca.

In Memoriam Program
Our parish is where we celebrate the special moments of our lives. It is where we come to be married, see our children and grandchildren baptized, come to be reconciled with God, and to be nourished by the Holy Eucharist. Our parish is where we will come to take our final journey out of this world and into the next. One way you can show others that the Church is important to you is to request that all in lieu of flowers donations made in your memory be directed toward your parish or favourite Archdiocesan charity. To ensure that your wishes are fulfilled, let your family know of your intention, then sign and date a handwritten letter that states your wishes and keep it with your Will. The Archdiocese will ensure that In Memoriam cards are delivered to the funeral home for the visitation.

2012-2013 Religious Education Program Register Now!

Registration for Religious Education classes is now being accepted. Children who are in grades 1 through 8 and attending non-Catholic schools, whose families are Registered Parish Members, are encouraged to register for the classes. Registration forms are available through the parish office. The program is largely volunteer-run, so parents are expected to help out in some way.

The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

In the beginning of today's Gospel, Jesus instructs his disciples to make preparations for the Passover meal. Like most meals, the Passover meal required planning and preparation. Our celebration of the Sunday Eucharist also requires planning and preparation. Certainly the ministers at the Eucharist prepare for their roles: the person presiding prays and prepares the homily; the prayers of petition are written; the music ministers prayerfully select music and practice it before Mass; Eucharistic ministers, lectors and altar servers prepare carefully for their roles. As the worshiping assembly, we can also prepare for the Mass through our prayer during the week, by reading the Scripture before Mass, and by making ourselves present to the Eucharistic celebration. All meals require some kind of planning and preparation; so, too, our Sunday Eucharist requires planning. What might we do to better prepare for our celebration of the Eucharist? Let us pray that God will help us make our celebration of the Eucharist the highlight of our week.

Baby Shower for Crisis Pregnancy Centres

Thank you so much for your overwhelming donations and support for Crisis Pregnancy Centres. Our Parish community came together and raised hundreds of dollars and a room full of toys, clothes, soaps, blankets, and anything else a mother may need to enjoy her time with her little one. For many of the women, continuing with their pregnancy is a difficult choice, and Our Lady of Sorrows has made it a little easier for many new mothers. On behalf of all the Crisis Pregnancy Centres we have given to, thank you from the bottom of my heart, Jennifer Medal. Any further donations can be made directly to the CPCs: Sisters of Life (416-463-2722), Aid to Women (416-921-6016), Rosalie Hall (416-4386880) and Birthright (416-469-1111).
