In Memoriam Program
Placing an in lieu of flowers request in your obituary in support of your Catholic faith could be your last act of evangelization; your final opportunity to tell the world that the Church mattered enough to you to think of her in your final moments. To ensure that your wishes are fulfilled, let your family know of your intention. Then sign and date a handwritten letter that states your wishes, and keep it with your Will. The Archdiocese will ensure that in Memoriam cards are delivered to the funeral home for the visitation. If we dont say what was important to us in our lives, how will people ever know?

Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Family Connection Church documents call the Christian family the domestic church. This is both a compliment and a call to commitment. Because the family is a community formed in love and dedicated to the physical and spiritual growth of its members, it is a miniature version of the Kingdom of God on earth. This Sundays Gospel Reading, Mark 4:2634, consists of two parables that Jesus used to help us discern the mystery of the Kingdom of God. The beginning of the kingdom is compared to a tiny seed that over time matures and ripens. Many of the things we do within the family seem insignificant. They are part of our daily activity and attract little attention. Yet they show our love and concern for one another. According to the Gospel, its these small things that yield big results, acting as significant contributions to the growth of Gods kingdom on earth. The growth of the seed illustrates the nature and the results of a strong faith. Consider how your familys concerns reflect the Churchs concerns for those members who are poor, forgotten, hungry, ill, shunned, or lonely. Together think of a specific action that you can do to assist a person in your extended family, neighborhood, or parish. Each evening this week as you gather for supper, share with one another the simple acts of love you witnessed within the family that day. Loyola Press: Sunday Connection

Statement from the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario

re: Accepting Schools Act (Bill 13)
The Ontario Legislature has passed Bill 13. The Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario has expressed serious concerns regarding certain aspects of this legislation, as have numerous other individual citizens and groups. Recognizing that the Accepting Schools Act is now the law, Catholic partners will seek, as we have always done, in a way that is in accord with our faith, to foster safe and welcoming school communities. Bullying, in any form, is unacceptable. At the core of our Catholic Christian beliefs is the command to welcome every person with love and respect.
Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto President, Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario
