Sacrament of the Sick In the event of serious illness or medical emergency, Anointing of the Sick and Eucharist may be arranged by contacting the Parish Office. Call (949) 257-8017 for a medical emergency after 8 p.m. Sacrament of Baptism Parents of infants requesting information about Baptism may contact the Faith Formation Office, 496-6011. Infant Baptisms are celebrated on the first and third Sunday of each month following catechesis for parents and godparents of candidates. Celebration of Christian Funerals At the time of death, a family member should contact the parish office, as soon as possible, to arrange the date and time for the Funeral Liturgy. Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Adults requesting information about full initiation and communion with the Roman Catholic Church (the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation) may contact the Faith Formation Office , 4966011. Sacrament of Matrimony The Sacrament presumes active sacramental participation on the part of one or both persons. Couples must begin preparation for their Sacrament at least six months prior to their proposed wedding date. Please call the Parish Office for more information. Eucharistic Adoration On the first and third Monday of each month we gather in prayer and praise before the Blessed Sacrament. Traces of Grace
Dear Fellow Parishioners; Last week my father would have been 90 years old. I still miss him and every time I go into his old machine shop or I bust a knuckle turning a wrench, I think of him. The older I get, the more I realize I inherited, or embraced, many of his characteristics. (Does this mean I can blame him for all my bad traits?) But when I called my mom last week on his birthday, I realized that she misses him even more than I do. After 63 years of marriage together, ones life is somehow welded to the other in a very unique way. Each of our fathers, either living or deceased, in some way helped to fashion us. Sometimes those have been loving ways; sometimes they have been incredibly painful for us. But on this Fathers Day, may we be at peace with our fathers, as well as the One who made us all. Together in Christ;

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus is asked about the greatest commandment and we are all familiar with his response: "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first commandment and the second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments." (Mathew 22:36-40) The entire Society of St. Vincent de Paul is built upon these two commandments. HELP US HELP OTHERS We ask all Catholics pastors, catechists, educators, and parishioners to join us in rethinking this difficult issue (capital punishment) and committing ourselves to pursuing justice without vengeance. With our Holy Father, we seek to build a society so committed to human life that it will not sanction the killing of any human person. (US Catholic Bishops, Responsibility, Rehabilitation and Restoration, 2009 ). Join the Catholic Social Justice Ministry to advocate for the replacement of the death penalty with life without the possibility of parole. Our next meeting is September 11, 2012, 7:00 PM, in the Church Meeting Room.

"A REAL CHILD" In a society which continues to have a legal and cultural blind spot for the unborn, many suffer from the illusion that miscarriage doesnt grieve a parent as much as the loss of, well, a real child. And that is precisely what hurts so much. We can never console someone in grief if we imply, even remotely, that the person they lost wasnt real. Dr. Byron Calhoun, President of the American Association of Pro-life Ob-Gyns, has observed that prior to 1970, the loss of a child before or during birth was often treated in medical literature as a non-event, but that now there is a growing awareness of the grief associated with such loss. In fact, Dr. Calhoun has developed a hospice program for unborn children. Life News Page 6

We will provide the best view around, if the weather cooperates, grills (for your cooking convenience), cookies, coffee and great music. Gather about 6 P.M. and stay for the firework display at 9 P.M.

PARISH PAY PARTICIPANTS PLEASE READ

Late Thursday afternoon we received notification from one of our banking partners that there was a script error in financial reporting via the bank. The banking partner used Yapstone in the verbiage instead of ParishPay in error, this was not intentional. Friday morning we began alerting all parishioners who were affected by this script error and this week, parishes will be notified of this error as well. Moving forward ALL financial scripts will read ParishPay not Yapstone it was not our intention to present the parent company on the financial statements. Thus far emailed letters have been sent to parishioners and mailed letters will be going out this week to those who do not have an email address pending.

The faith community of St. Edward the Confessor seeks an energetic and qualified person to coordinate our Middle School Faith Formation program and to collaborate with the youth minister in other areas of spiritual growth for high school students. Applicants must be willing to work with culturally diverse groups in an inter-generational environment, communicating weekly with staff, volunteers, parents and peer leaders. The position is hourly and part time (approximately 20 hours per week). Applicants should have a bachelors degree (or degree in progress) in theology, psychology or other related human development field and/or 3+ years experience working with youth in a ministerial setting.
