System Center Configuration Manger 2012 Pre-Installation

1. Server 2008R2 SP1 w/ 16gb ram, 4 cpus 120gb system drive 50gb sqldb drives (30gb for db, 20gb for temp db) 200gb data drive (For Package Source) 2. Join to domain GTVS???SCCM Create Alias gtcsccm 3. Domain Admin must complete: Extend AD Schema (using <install media>\SMSSETUP\BIN\X64\extadsch.exe) Create System Management Container inside the System Container using ADSIEdit Give the ConfigMgr Computer object Full permissions on the System Management Container and all child objects (under advanced on the security tab) Select the System Management Container, and right click it, choose All Tasks and Delegate Control. When the Welcome to Delegation of Control Wizard appears click next, then click Add. click on Object Types, select Computers. Type in your SCCM server name and click on Check Names, it should resolve. Click Ok, then Next. Choose Create a Custom Task to Delegate, click next, make sure This folder, existing objects in this folder and creation of new objects in this folder is selected. click next, select the 3 permissions General, Property-Specific and Creation-deletion of specific child objects are selected then place a check mark in FULL CONTROL, and click next then Finish. 4. AD User Accounts to be created: * DomJoin, a domain user,(for joining computers to the domain) * ReportsUser, a domain user for reporting services. * ClientInstall, a domain user used when installing the Configuration Manager Client for Client Push. This user must be a local administrator on computers you want to install the Configuration Manager Client. * SCCMNAA, a domain user, (Network Access Account) used during OSD *SMSAdmin, a domain user (must be in the local administrator group of the ConfigMgr Server) 5. SQL 2008R2 SP1 (Must install CU6, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2679367/en-us) Must use non-default Collation (SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS) Windows Auth (need service accout for the db) require Analysis & Reporting Services (Native mode) to be installed, as well as full-text search. do not install sql replication services.

6. Windows features/roles to be installed: In Server Manager select Features, Add Features, Select .NET Framework 3.5.1, also select WCF Activation and when prompted answer Add Required Role Services click next and next again Select these additional IIS Components: Common HTTP Features Static Content Default Document Directory Browsing HTTP Errors HTTP Redirection Application Development ASP.NET .NET Extensibility ASP ISAPI Extensions ISAPI Filters Health and Diagnostics HTTP logging Logging tools Request Monitor Tracing Security Basic Authentication Windows Authentication URL Authorization Request Filtering IP and Domain Restrictions Performance Static Content Compression Management Tools IIS Management Console IIS Management Scripts and Tools Management Service IIS 6 Management Compatibilty IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility IIS 6 WMI Compatibility IIS 6 Scripting Tools IIS 6 Management Console

7. Install .Net Framework 4.0 & Client Profile 8. Open a command prompt as administrator and navigate to C:\Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework64\v4.0.30319\ Type: aspnet_regiis i <press enter> 9. Install BITS and Remote Differential Compression Features 10. Import Group Policy ADMs from <install media>\SMSSETUP\TOOLS\ConfigMgrADMTemplates Create GPO for blocking the install of the Client, link where we dont want the client. Create GPO with Site Settings for Client, link in OUs where we want the client installed. 11.
