INTRODUCTION: Since its inception in 1953, Mennonite Economic Development Associated (MEDA) has been committed to local ownership and sustainable outcomes. MEDA is currently working in many countries all around the world MEDA uses business-oriented approaches to international economic development that results in sustainable enterprises to benefit the poor and to help them improve their livelihoods. MEDA has been working in Pakistan since 2004 in the field of women's economic development. USAID Pakistan Entrepreneurs, a USAID funded project will, over the next 5 years benefit thousands of homebound and isolated women in all four provinces of Pakistan. Women's economic empowerment in Pakistan requires a concerted effort that goes beyond establishing micro-enterprises or providing employment opportunities, it should also include: access to business and skills training, market exposure, technology transfer, availability of credit, awareness of rights, knowledge of pricing, negotiation skills, to name a few. Through these efforts women will not only earn increased incomes but they will also be able to assume a more active role in decision -making for their families

and communities. JOB TITLE: REPORTS TO: DUTY STATION : PROJECT: JOB SUMMARY:
Value Chain Officer will be based in Swat with our Key Facilitating Partner (KFP) implementing the Embellish Fabric Value Chain Development Project. The person will be responsible for creating a link with the KFP, project management, implementation of value chain development concepts, M & E and research. The person will also be responsible for coordinating the efforts for capacity building of the staff of the respective KFP.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:


1. Provide support to the VC Director in the management of sub-grants and in all facets of project management and technical assistance delivery to KFPs. 2. Follow up and ensure adoption or identification of problems in the adoption of directions from the VC Director and/or Entrepreneurs Project Management. 3. Work closely with the KFPs in nurturing collaborative relationship with all key stakeholders including local government authorities, community leaders, beneficiaries, partner organizations and others involved in the value chain. 4. Work closely with the partners/organizations, consultants, and service providers contracted for the capacity building of KFPs as well as of beneficiaries. 5. Coordinate with appropriate MEDA personnel to build the capacity of the KFPs in compliance to USAID rules and regulations, and to fulfill reporting requirements. 6. Participate in the implementation of the training program as required. 7. Represent MEDA, with approval, of the VC Director/Grants Manager to key stakeholders, such as local authorities, local partners, other NGOs, and appropriate networks as and when required

Monitor project implementation and provide regular and timely feedback to supervisor and other relevant project staff on areas relating to project implementation especially on issues impacting achievement of project objectives. 9. Perform any other responsibilities that maybe assigned by supervisor from time to time.

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


Bachelors degree in economics, development management, business development and/or relevant field. Masters degree an advantage. Minimum 3 years of experience in jobs of similar nature specifically in embroidery/fabrics embellishment sector; Experience in project management, implementation, monitoring, evaluation & research, enterprise development concepts, and business oriented approach for economic development. Excellent report writing skills Strong coordination, networking and relationship building skills Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills Organized, punctual and detail oriented Fluent in written and spoken English and Urdu. Knowledge of Pashtu language will be an asset. Ability to work in team setting, as well as individually taking initiatives and performing multiple tasks Proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and Power point). Able to travel to remote areas as well as to other areas outside of Swat Must be from Swat or has been residing in Swat for at least five years.
