1.1. Introduction With the opening up of the economy of Bangladesh, a dramatic change has been observed both in manufacturing and in service sectors. This has brought higher employment opportunities, increases in income level, and changes in consumption pattern and consequently there emerges a competitive environment in the country. Specifically, the expansion of Banking and Insurance business, along with customized services, has created a severe implied competition in this sector. The scenario has created an urge to the bank policy makers to identify the underlying reasons and brought them into consideration the job satisfaction issue. Rationale of the Study Todays business world is dynamic and competitive therefore organizations looking for talent, extrovert graduates who belong to high degree of adaptability quality. Todays business graduates will be the core part of business organization. So business graduates need to have both theoretical & practical knowledge to manage the business activity properly. towards expansion of industrialization process of Bangladesh. It seems to me that in SJIBL there is a sufficient opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the activities of a bank. The working environment is good and the employees are very much cooperative to provide practical knowledge about different functions of the bank. I selected a topic named "Employee Job Satisfaction of Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd." On the basis of this topic I have prepare my Internship Report. 1.4. Objective of the Report The public sector as well as the private sector bank has undergone a sea-change over the years. The change is more evident in the case of public sector Bank that is forced to match steps with private sector Bank to cope up with the emerging competition. This has meant a total attitudinal change for the employees. This has not been simple and has put new pressures and realities in front of the bank employees iced with a huge pile of inconsistencies. Bank Officers have perhaps felt the maximum heat. On one side they are expected to monitor, administer and manage the clerical staff and on the other hand to be the spokesperson of the management. This paradox in the changed circumstances plus the challenge to counter their own problems has put them in an unenviable position. This research study was undertaken with the following three objectives: (a) To ascertain the degree of overall job satisfaction prevailing among the bank officers. (b) To elicit officer's views on the different factors of job satisfaction being identified as motivation/hygiene factors. (c) To study the impact of different variables such as the occupational level (clerks, cashiers or officers), age, education, organizational climate, economic background and gender, on the various factors affecting the overall job satisfaction. And from these three different departments or divisions, I hope that I will be capable of doing these types of jobs in the future. 1.6. After collecting the data, it has been arranged and analyzed. This questionnaire survey has been conducted upon 15 employees. Respondent were asking to tick their opinion. 1.8. Limitation: On the way of my study in Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, I faced the following problems, which may be termed as the limitations of the study. The major limitations of this study are given as follows: There were some restrictions to have access to the information confidential by concern authority. Sufficient records, publications regarding customer service were not available as per requirement. Three-month is not sufficient time to gain practical knowledge and prepare a report. The employees of the bank are so much busy so they cannot provide me to give information. I have no proper experience to do this kind of report. So, inexperience creates obstacle to follow the systematic and logical research methodology.

2.9. Islamic Mode of Investment

Bai Mechanism:

Bai means purchase and sale of goods in cash or on credit or in advance at an agreed upon profit, which may or may not be disclosed to the client. Majority of investments of Islamic Bank are extended through this mechanism. A good number of investment products have been designed to facilitate mainly working capital financing which goes as follows: Bai-Murabaha Murabaha LC (Sight/Deferred) Through this mode of indirect facility, the bank facilitates import of goods of the client at fixed rate of service charge (LC commission) on invoice value. LC may be opened at 100% cash or at a different ratio. Murabaha Post Import TR This is post import finance under the principle of Bai, extended to retire Shipping Documents under LC opened. We buy the imported goods and sell the same to the importer at a cost plus an agreed upon profit repayable today or on some date in the future in lumpsum or by installments. Usually payment is made by lumpsum from the sale proceeds of the consignment. Possession of goods remains with the client. Collateral security is usually obtained to secure the finance. Bai-Muajjal Bai-Muajjal Commercial TR
Page4

It is an agreement between bank and client whereby bank delivers goods to the client upon deferred payment, i.e. the client shall pay the price at some future date at a time,

by lumpsum or by installment. Under this mode of investment, bank is not supposed to disclose cost price and profit separately. Goods are delivered on trust and Trust Receipt is obtained for legal implication.

4.2 Recommendations

No organization can work 100% accurately. They must face some problems. Similarly, The Shahjalal Islami Bank as a commercial institution faces some problems to give job satisfaction. To overcome this problem, the bank can employ professional analysis by using satisfaction analytical tools. Some suggestion can be recommended to overcome the problem. Decision making power should be decentralized effectively so that business can promptly be enhanced. A handsome number of qualified employees & staffs should be appointed very soon for maintaining the normal flow of work. Filing and record keeping system of the bank should me modernized .At present operation system is partially computerized and on line banking should be started very soon. An officer complains statement must receive. The main reason for the failure of satisfaction is inadequate documents. So the professional should collect and maintain all types of documents properly. Proper investigation should be done whether the employee is utilized as per the purpose. Manager should be given a power to make decision up to a certain limit to increase the satisfaction level. Some incentive should be provided to the efficient officers to earn more from them.

4.3 Conclusion
Employee Job Satisfaction of Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL): A Study on Khulna Branch.

Page4

While concluding, it could be said that with the change of satisfaction determinants, level of job satisfaction also varies. It is also observed that as a person ages, his job satisfaction shows an increasing trend. With age, spiritualism of the person increases, but his alternatives for change decreases. Younger employees have more energy, more expectations and more options, and hence have lesser satisfaction with the job. Overall the job satisfaction of bank officers though is not very high, but satisfactory. But there is still considerable room for improvements. The Bank is committed to run its activities as per Islamic Shariah and thus it has different investment(credit) modes, different repayment schedules, different disbursement procedure, different mark up system. Sell the same to another people. This system is accepted in Islamic Shariah because here money is converted to goods. Money begets money is prohibited in Islamic Shariah. People are getting more benefit from the dealings of Islamic banking because here quarterly interest is not charged and there is no possibility of interest to be converted into principal Islamic Banks cant charge extra amount on the residual principal of the overdue accounts like other conventional banks but some compensation is imposed on the accounts to protect huge accounts to be overdue/classified. It can not take part in call money market. Mudaraba, Musharaka are another mode of investment in Islamic Banking. But here honesty is the only pre-requisite. For ensuring more benefit, more facility from Islamic banks like SJIBL we have to be honest and more sincere to repay the taken money from these banks in time. At time, real judgment and honesty of the authorized personnel can help the bank to increase their advancement and to make them optimum sale and secured.
