Leh Masr?

How many times - Have you paid for a vacation in Egypt double what you wouldve paid for one in Europe? - Have you felt irritated from the word Basha, or kol sana wenta tayeb or 50 pounds only? - Have you wanted to travel in Egypt for a weekend but were tired of going to Sharm or the Pyramids again? - Have you wanted to go somewhere new in Egypt? - Have you felt that the way you are treated as an Egyptian is completely different from a foreigner? - Have you found that foreigners knew about areas in Egypt you haven't heard of? - Did you feel Chinese products conquer the Egyptian market while Egyptian products are becoming extinct?

What is CISV? We are part of an NGO called Children International Summer Villages (CISV). It is an international NGO that promotes peace Education through the several committees and programs such as Village, Summer Camp, Interchange, Youth Meeting, Seminar Camp, IPP, and finally Mosaic. Leh Masr is a project under Mosaic Program. What is Mosaic? Mosaic is a CISV program that works on local development, in which volunteers can join a project regardless of their age. In mosaic you learn how to initiate your own project or be part of a team of volunteers working on a project. Mosaic projects can target poverty, education, environmental issues, etc; and can be big or small. Two past projects under Mosaic were Characters of Egypt and Tooh fe Baladak. Characters of Egypt was a festival that gathered all the tribe of Egypt in one place. CISV gathered about 100 volunteers all in one place. The other project was called Tooh feih Baldak, an initiative to help people know more about the country. Samia El Khodary and Mohamed Abdelkader are the founders of Leh Masr initiative/ project. We created this project after a mini project, a documentary of 100 reasons why you should come to Egypt? From that point we wanted to expand in order to create a project that tackles the main issues regarding the tourism industry.

What is Leh Masr? Leh Masr is a project aiming at reviving and improving tourism through an online portal and other forms of media. The online portal will aim to facilitate tourism by making ends meet and helping tourists and locals discover Egypt in depth; that being Egypts less known regions, arts and crafts as well as history. Other forms of media will support this by promoting the website and the project. Moreover, we are trying through this project to tackle the common controversial issues between tourists and those working in the tourism industry. Goals and Objectives: Goal 1: Raising awareness to unknown places in Egypt Goal 2: Facilitating travel Goal 3: Improving attitudes Goal 4: Reviving local crafts

This will be done through three phases Phase 1: Teaser campaign. Phase 2: promoting the website. Phase 3: Launching of the website followed by print media.

What is Unique about Leh Masr? Not solely focused on awareness Simple and easy to spread around through visual methods A place with all the information about tourism in Egypt all in one place such as the initiatives taking place, cheap hotels, crafts, etc. From travelers to travelers Not profit-oriented.

TimeLine: June 1st: Team members recruitment. September 27th : WORLD TOURISM DAY and launch of phase 1 of Leh MasrOctober 10th:Launch of phase 2 of Leh Masr November 1st:Launching the website November 20th: Launch of the paper media campaign.

Who do we need? We need committed leaders and volunteers to work on the project and help in implementing it. The teams are as follows: Teams Public relations Fundraising Web design Web development Website management Graphic design Multimedia Material Main responsibilities 1. Creating and implementing different methods to spread the word. 2. Raising awareness. 3. Distribution management. 1. Getting funds to support Leh Masr. 1. Creating a website that reflects the vision of Leh Masr and all that this entails. 1. The programming aspect of the website. 1. Keeping the website ongoing with interactive activities such as competitions. 2. Maintaining the website with the same quality after the initial launch. 1. Creating the designs for the logo and any publication in Leh Masr. 1. Creating videos in support of the campaign. 2. Providing photographic media 1. Coordinating between the journalists, researchers and photographers. 2. Act as an editor in chief. 3. Editing the material which will be displayed on the website
