This course is designed for students who have little or no knowledge of the Spanish language. In this course, we will focus on the basic skills important to communication including listening, speaking, writing, and reading. More specifically, we will emphasize the importance of oral communication. The aim of this class is for the student to develop a better knowledge of the Spanish language and culture, and communicative competence in Spanish. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to communicate many ideas in Spanish in grammatically correct, complete sentences and you will be able to understand some basic spoken Spanish in a variety of contexts. : : : : : : : COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE HUM 110 SPANISH 101 NONE NONE 3 4.5 HOURS A WEEK / THURSDAY
COURSE OBJECTIVES A student completing this course should at the minimum be able to: 1. understand a new world called mundo hispanico and the different cultures. 2. immitate a common spanish accent that will lead to better understanding of the language. 3. identfiy one self that we belong to the spanish speaking world for which we share a similar tradition. 4. amplify a dynamic language through vocabulary learning, verb conjugations, singular and plural, masculine and femenine, definite and indefinite articles, exceptions to some rules and constructing a simple sentence to benchmark learning to a much higher purposes spanish may serve. 5. revatalize learning through a proper understanding of the english language through a simple comparison between spanish and english.
