Jing Meis character in Two Kinds In short story, Two Kinds. Jing Mei was an ambitious girl.

She wanted to be like the character in fairy tale stories. She wanted to be perfect and her parents would adore her. I was dainty ballerina girl standing the curtains, waiting to hear the right music that would send me floating on my tiptoes. In this dialogue it is show that Jing Mei imagined herself as the main character in the fairy tales. Jing Mei also a stubborn child, she resisted to follow her mother plans. Jing Mei just wanted to be herself and hate when she was forced to do something that she did not interested. I had new thoughts, wilful thoughts, or rather thoughts filled with lots of wonts. I wont let her change me, I promised myself. I wont be what Im not . From this dialogue, it is show that Jing Mei was a stubborn daughter. She refused to do what her mother asked her. Jing Mei also a playful girl. She never serious when mother asked her to learn something new. If I hit the wrong notes because I hadnt practiced enough, I never corrected myself. I just kept playing in rhythm. Amy Tan showed that Jing Mei attitude was not good. She attended piano classes because her mother forced her. Then, Jing Mei was also an ungrateful daughter. She never appreciated the opportunities that her mother gave to her. She always complained about her life. Why dont you like me the way I am? Im not a genius! I cant play the piano. And even if I could, I wouldnt go on TV if you paid me a million dollars! I cried. She did not satisfied the decision that her mother done for her. Besides that, Jing Mei also rude. She called her mother stupid when her mother reminded her about the pianos class. She did not want to listen to her mother anymore and she blamed her mother because of her failure in the talent recital. I wasnt her slave. This wasnt China. I had listened to her before and look what had happened. She was the stupid one. Actually, Jing Mei had a lack of self confident. She did not believe of her own ability. She continuously made her mother disappointed of her failure. It was show in this dialogue, In

the years that followed, I failed her so many times, each time asserting my own will, my right to fall short of expectation. I didnt get straight As, I didnt become class president, I didnt get into Stanford. I dropped out of college. Jing Mei showed the negative attitude and she tended easily to give up. Lastly, Jing Mei became cruel when she angry to her mother. It was because her mother said that only obedient child could stay in their house. Without hesitated, she said Then I wish Id never been born! I shouted. I wish I were dead! Like them. Jing Mei brought up the tragic memory of her mother. It was about her mothers twins babies that had lost in China.
