Polar Coordinate

Polar Coordinate In mathematics, polar coordinate is a method of representation of points with the use of ordered pair in the plain. This polar coordinate system is a two dimensional coordinate system. Polar coordinate system consists of pole, a ray of specific angle, a polar axis and an origin. The polar axis is a line which has its commencement from the origin and it extent until the indefinite point on any of the specific direction. The position and distance from the origin by its angle help us to determine the position the point. The angle generate positive if the rotation of the polar axis is in anti clockwise direction. It will be negative when the rotation of the polar axis is in clockwise direction. These polar coordinate systems are helpful in solving circular symmetry. Besides the Cartesian coordinate system the way to find the position of the point is the polar coordinate system.

Polar coordinate enables us to know about the certain aspects. These are as under: How we can plot a point when its Polar Coordinates are already given Conducting the Identification of the angle whether they are positive or negative How we can convert polar coordinate into Cartesian coordinate An again how Cartesian coordinate can be converted into polar coordinate We can also find out whether the equation is satisfying the curve or not The radial coordinate is represented by r, and angular coordinate is represented by t (in many of the context a positive coordinate indicate that angle t is measured counter clockwise from the axis). Its polar coordinate conventions also have some application in various fields such as these are traditionally used in surveying, navigation and to the some extent in mathematical physics. Many times in mathematical literature it proved useful for drawing horizontal and pointing towards right the polar axis. As we have already discussed that polar coordinate system is a two dimensional coordinate system which is estimated by the distance from a specific point and from the angle in the specific direction. In the polar coordinate graph the fixed point or the specific point is known as pole. And radius is the distance which is measured from the pole. Polar equation is the term which is used for the equation when defined in the form of algebraic curve which is given in polar coordinate. In most of the cases such a polar equation can simply be explained by defining r as a function of theta. Therefore the resulting curve then comprises of a points of the form [r(), ] and will be considered as a graph of polar function t.

Because of the circular nature of polar coordinate we can divine so many curves, some of them are Archimedean spiral, Limacon ,The polar rose, Lemniscates, cardioids are among its best renowned curves. A polar rose is among the renowned mathematical curve which has appearance of petaled flower. This can also be expressed with the simple polar equation. r() = a cos (k + ) The Archimedean spiral is renowned because it is discovered by Archimedes. We can also express this by the help of simple polar equation which is given by r ( ) = a + b
