Annabelle Entrelac Wrap

Materials: Two skeins of Patons Lace Yarn US Size 8 needles I suggest using 24 circulars Gauge: Not critical Finished size after blocking: Approximately 14 in x 62-1/2 in Abbreviations used in this pattern: K = Knit P = Purl P2tog = Purl two together P3tog = Purl three together WS = Wrong side RS = Right side KFB = Knit through front and back of next stitch SSK = Slip, Slip, Knit Slip the next stitch knitwise, slip the next stitch purlwise, knit both stitches together through the back loop. Alternately, you can slip both stitches knitwise. I find that slipping the first knitwise and the second purlwise makes the decreases a bit neater. A word on blocking: I gave my wrap a rather vigorous blocking, meaning I really stretched the fabric, to the point I thought I may have stretched too much. I let it soak in some cool water and SOAK first for about 20 minutes, and after squeezing out all of the excess water, pinned it into shape. Once I removed the pins, the fabric did pull back a bit, and was just fine. You do not have to block yours, but it does look much better if blocked, in my opinion. You neednt pin yours out as I did, you can just soak it in cool water (with a wool wash if you choose) and then lay it flat and gently pat it into shape. You will not use the entire second skein of yarn. I used just under half of my second skein. If you would like your wrap to be wider, cast on additional stitches in multiples of 10. Then, try it on as you go, and if you want yours longer, continue knitting to the desired length before working the bind off triangles. Keep in mind that some

length/width will be added if you choose to block. You will of course need more yarn, possibly a third skein if you want it very much wider and/or longer. Here we go! Cast on 40 stitches Foundation Triangles: Row 1 (WS): P2, turn Row 2: K2, turn Row 3: P3, turn Row 4: K3, turn Row 5: P4, turn Row 4: K4, turn Continue working in this manner until you have purled 10 stitches. After purling 10, do not turn. Your first base triangle is complete. Begin again at Row 1, and work until you have purled 10 stitches. Repeat until you have worked all four of the triangles. Right Side Triangles: Row 1 (RS): K2, turn Row 2: P2, turn Row 3: KFB, SSK to join side triangle to triangle/rectangle Row 4: Purl Row 5: KFB, K1, SSK Repeat Rows 4 and 5 until all stitches from the triangle/rectangle below have been worked. Do not turn after the final Row 5. Right Side Rectangles: Row 1 (RS): Pick up and knit 10 stitches, turn Row 2: Purl, turn Row 3: Knit to last stitch, SSK to join to next triangle/rectangle Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until all stitches from the next triangle/rectangle have been worked. Do not turn after the final Row 3. Repeat from beginning for the remaining rectangles. Left Side Triangle: Row 1 (RS): Pick up and knit 10 stitches along along last triangle/rectangle, turn Row 2: P2tog, purl to end, turn Row 3: Knit, turn

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until two stitches remain, P2tog, do not turn. Wrong Side Rectangles: Row 1 (WS): Pick up and purl 9 stitches, turn (Note: You only need to pick up 9 stitches for the first wrong side rectangle, because you will already have one stitch on your needle from making the left side triangle.) Row 2: Knit, turn Row 3: Purl to last stitch, P2tog to join to rectangle below Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until all stitches from the next rectangle have been worked. Do not turn after the final Row 3. Repeat from beginning for the remaining rectangles. Continue repeating from beginning Right Side Triangle sixteen more times, or until wrap is as long as you want it to be. The Bind Off Triangles need to be worked on the wrong side, so be sure to end with a tier of right side rectangles and a Left Side Triangle. Bind Off Triangles: Row 1: (WS) Pick up and purl along the side of the Left Side Triangle you will be picking up 10 stitches. There will already be a stitch left over from the Left Side Triangle; after picking up you should have a total of 11 stitches. Turn. Row 2: Knit, turn Row 3: P2tog, purl until 1 stitch remains of the triangle, P2tog to join to the rectangle below, turn. Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until only three stitches remain of current triangle, and end with a knit row. Next Row: P2tog twice, turn. You should have two stitches of the current triangle. Knit the two stitches and turn. P3tog, leaving one stitch on your right needle. You are now ready to begin the next Bind Off Triangle. Begin again at Row 1 and repeat until all stitches have been bound off. When you get to the last stitch, cut yarn and pull tail through. Weave in any loose ends. Block if desired.
