1 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation USER WEBSITE MANUAL INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION RC-WebView 2.

.0 is a server-based software application that provides browser acces s to Reliable Controls MACH-Systems. System Group windows created in RC-Studio 2.0 are translated by RC-WebView 2.0 and displayed to the user in HTML format. Re altime data from the Reliable Controls MACH-System is combined with System Group graphics, without the need to design HTML pages. Access to BACnet objects in thir dparty devices is supported, including inputs, outputs, variables, schedules, Trend Log s, and alarms. RC-WebView 2.0 can be linked to RC-Archive 2.0 databases for historical data display. The number of simultaneous RC-WebView 2.0 users is limited only by the capability of the host server. A single installation of RC-WebView 2.0 can provide access to mu ltiple systems through one or more websites. 2 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation OVERVIEW USER WEBSITE MANUAL INTRODUCTION OVERVIEW RC-WebView 2.0 presents and updates System Group data in the same manner as RCStu dio 2.0. With RC-WebView 2.0, the operator is able to: Several Reliable Controls Authorized Dealers offer RC-WebView 2.0 website hosting as a service to their customers. In a typical scenario, RC-WebView 2.0 runs on an Au thorized Dealers server and a monthly fee for website hosting and system maintenance is ch arged to the customer. This scenario is ideal for smaller systems, in that the custome r can gain restricted operator access for setpoint and schedule adjustment without the fina ncial commitment of purchasing the server, or taking on the added payroll for maintaining the sys tem. View and manually override Reliable Controls Protocol (RCP) points and BACnet objects, Adjust RCP and BACnet Weekly Schedules and Annual Schedules, Vew, graph, and print Trend Logs and Runtime Logs, including historical Trend Log archives accessed from an RC-Archive 2.0 database, View, print, and acknowledge current RCP and BACnet alarms, and View an audit trail of changes made to a MACH-System by RC-WebView 2.0 users. Use RC-Studio 2.0 to create or delete points, Control-BASIC programming, or the original System Group windows. 3 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation RC-WEBVIEW COMPONENTS USER WEBSITE MANUAL

INTRODUCTION RC-WEBVIEW COMPONENTS RC-WebView 2.0 provides browser access to Reliable Controls MACH-Systems. Figure 1 illustrates the basic components of RC-WebView 2.0. Figure 1: Basic Components of RC-WebView 2.0 Table 1: Components of RC-WebView 2.0 Component Description Network RC-WebView 2.0 requires a network to transfer information between its components. The network could take a variety of forms dictated by the system design. At a minimum, the network must have one Ethernet connection. The network could be in the form of a LAN, WAN, VPN, or WWW. MACH-System RC-WebView 2.0 requires a fully operational Reliable Controls MACH-System to provide real-time data. The MACH-System may include third-party BACnet devices. RC-WebView 2.0 Server RC-WebView 2.0 websites and the RC-WebView 2.0 administration website require a host RC-WebView 2.0 server. To present real-time data, the RC-WebView 2.0 server must contain duplicates of the system descriptor file and System Group graphic files used by RC-Studio 2.0. Reliable Controls recommends restricting the RC-WebView 2.0 server to run only the software associated with the Reliable Controls MACH-System. To access the administration website to configure sites, systems, and users, the server (or a remote workstation accessing the server), will need to run Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, or higher. Client Browser PC Users connect to websites hosted by RC-WebView 2.0 with any PC running Microsoft Windows Explorer 6.0, or higher. Client Browser PC RC-WebView 2.0 Server Reliable Controls MACH-System Internet Network 4 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation HOW RC-WEBVIEW WORKS USER WEBSITE MANUAL INTRODUCTION HOW RC-WEBVIEW WORKS THE RC-WEBVIEW 2.0 PROCESS Figure 2: RC-WebView 2.0 workflow 1 The client browser PC sends a Web service request to the RC-WebView 2.0 server for system information such as current point values, current alarms, Runtime Logs or Trend Logs. 2 The RC-WebView 2.0 server sends a request to the Reliable Controls MACHSystem for the real-time data associated with the information request. 3 The Reliable Controls MACH-System supplies the requested real-time data to the RC-WebView 2.0 server. 4 The RC-WebView 2.0 server responds to the Web service request made during step one with the real-time data from the MACH-System. The client PC then produces the appropriate display in the browser window. 5 RC-WebView 2.0 windows can be placed in Refresh mode, causing the data displayed in the window to be automatically updated every 5 seconds. Real-time data is assured because the information databases reside in Reliable Controls MACH-System controllers. Current information is sent each time the clien t

browser makes a new request. Table 2 details some guidelines fo r choosing where to place the RC-WebView 2.0 server. . Table 2: RC-WebView 2.0 guidelines Guideline Description Security Data integrity and server protection from unfriendly outside influences must be considered when situating the RCWebView 2.0 server. Reliable Controls recommends placing the server behind a firewall. Access For access to the Reliable Controls MACH-System, RCWebView 2.0 must be able to communicate with the Reliable Controls MACH-System. If RC-WebView 2.0 is remotely located, routers and firewalls must be configured to allow the required communication. 6 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation NETWORK ARCHITECTURE USER WEBSITE MANUAL INTRODUCTION LAN NETWORK ARCHITECTURE Figure 3: RC-WebView 2.0 LAN architecture LAN NETWORK ARCHITECTURE FEATURES All real-time data passing takes place on the LAN The speed of the system is only compromised by the quality of the network hardware Remote access is accommodated while ensuring system security because the router acts as a firewall The router/firewall is configured to allow standard HTTP communication to and from the Internet Internet Offsite client browser PC Router/Firewall Ethernet Hub RC-WebView 2.0 Server Offsite client browser PC Onsite client browser PC

7 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation NETWORK ARCHITECTURE USER WEBSITE MANUAL INTRODUCTION WAN NETWORK ARCHITECTURE Figure 4: RC-WebView 2.0 WAN architecture WAN network architecture is employed when the server is located remotely from MA CHSystem LANs, or if more than one Reliable Controls MACH-System is serviced by RC-WebView 2.0. WAN NETWORK ARCHITECTURE FEATURES Real-time data must pass through at least two firewalls (This requires that the firewalls be configured to allow fragmented UDP packets to pass through port 21068 for RCP, and port 47808 must be open for BACnet communications.) The speed of the system is subject to the amount of competing Internet traffic Remote access is a requirement of this architecture because the server is not located in the same building (System security is ensured by the use of firewalls at all network access points.) Multiple Reliable Controls MACH-Systems can be included on a single RC-WebView 2.0 website, or each MACH-System can have a separate RC-WebView 2.0 website. Internet Offsite client browser PC Router/Firewall Ethernet Hub Hospital School Router/Firewall Offsite RC-WebView 2.0 Server Onsite client browser PC 8 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation SERVER HIERARCHY USER WEBSITE MANUAL INTRODUCTION SERVER HIERARCHY Figure 5: RC-WebView 2.0 server hierarchy Figure 5 depicts the standard hierarchy for the RC-WebView 2.0 server. The RC-Web View 2.0 installation procedure creates an administration website at a dedicated port number dependant on the operating system. The administration website is used to create RC-WebView 2.0 user websites that serve information from one or more MACH-Systems . Access to a user website is achieved by using a client browser PC to browse to t he IP address of the RC-WebView 2.0 server, and the name of the site to connect to. All user si tes use a default port number of 80 unless changed by the administrator during the s ite configuration process. SECURITY RC-WebView 2.0 relies on a user log-on feature to ensure that only authorized ind ividuals have access to RC-WebView 2.0 websites. Unique log-on UserID and Password field v alues are assigned when users are added to an RC-WebView 2.0 website. USER SECURITY

If a single RC-WebView 2.0 website is used to host multiple MACH-Systems, the def inition of each user must include enabling the systems that may be accessed. Users must first be added to an RC-WebView 2.0 website to authorize their logon rights Users must then be enabled to access a MACH-System residing on an RCWebView 2.0 website 9 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation PC REQUIREMENTS USER WEBSITE MANUAL USER WEBSITES USER WEBSITES PC REQUIREMENTS TO DETERMINE THE CLIENT PCS OPERATING SYSTEM INTERNET EXPLORER CONFIGURATION Press the F11 key to toggle between full screen and normal (partial screen)displ ay. Access to the historical Alarms dat abase is gained by clicking the History icon on the Alarms worksheet toolbar. The display ed alarm data is generated by RCAlarmServer, a portion of RC-WebView 2.0 that runs i n the background to keep RC-WebView 2.0 synchronized with the alarms at the controller level. OVERVIEW Alarms are generated by Reliable Controls MACH-System controllers based on programmed events or transitions. With BACnet Reliable Controls MACH-Systems, alarms can be generated by one of two methods: 1) by Control-BASIC algorithms running in controllers, or 2) by BACnet i ntrinsic alarms, defined as properties of each BACnet object (refer to the RC-Studio 2.0 S oftware Manual). With non-BACnet Reliable Controls MACH-Systems, only the Control-BASIC alarm method is available. What happens when an alarm is generated? When an alarm is generated in a Reliable Controls controller, the alarm is broadc ast to all controllers on the network. Each Reliable Controls controller, with the exception of the MACH-Air and MACH-Zonecontrollers, maintains a list of current alarms from all

controllers on the network. Alarm data duplication reduces the chance of losing alarms if controllers go offline. Each alarm broadcast is also captured and processed by the RCAlarmServer in RCWe bView 2.0. The alarm is added to the Alarms worksheet, and a record is added to the alarm history. Users connecting to an RC-WebView 2.0 website can be configured to receive pop-up window notifications whenever a new alarm is received. Users util ize the Alarms worksheet interface to acknowledge and clear alarms. 49 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation SYSTEM ACTIONS USER WEBSITE MANUAL USER WEBSITES Can alarm annunciation be customized for each user? Each alarm has an alarm type and associated priority configured when the alarm i s programmed in a controller. The alarm type is used by RC-WebView 2.0 to determine how each alarm is annunciated and managed. The priority controls how the alarm is annunciated and what is required to clear the annunciation of the alarm. The RC-WebView 2.0 Alarm Type Configuration and Alarm Pop-up Size dialog boxes are used to configure how alarms will be processed for each user, in particular: ALARM POP-UPS When an alarm is activated, it is displayed in the Alarms worksheet, and it can additionally appear as a pop-up. Pop-ups play an important role in the Reliable Controls MACHS ystem alarm package because alarm actions can be tied to the generation of a pop-up. In addition, users are able to determine how a pop-up is acknowledged and whethe r any action associated with the pop-up is executed automatically, or requires a user response. Figure 41: General Alarm pop-up window The General alarm in Figure 40 is a typical alarm pop-up. The top line of text i dentifies the alarm type. The alarm message appears below the alarm type. Note that the Priori ty, Source, and Alarm Time are included in the body of the pop-up message. Each alar m popup has an Acknowledge button and a Cancel button. The Action button may also be present if an alarm is configured to prompt for operator execution of the action . This standard uses Cat 5 cable for data transfer using the CSMA/CD model. Firewall A security measure that can employ software, hardware or a combination of both to restrict access to a server or a portion of a network. HTML Hyper Text Markup Language is the language interpreted by a browser and used to construct Web pages. HTTP Hyper Text Transfer Protocol is used to transfer HTML information. Hosting The act of providing space. A server is hosted by an ISP, while a website is hosted on a server. Hyperlinks An element of the HTML standard that provides for navigation

within or between HTML documents. Hyperlinks are essential to the functionality of any website. IIS Internet Information Service this is a portion of the Microsoft Windows software that provides the software mechanisms for hosting websites on a server. Internet A Wide Area Network (WAN) spanning the globe that consists of servers and networks that employ several different communication protocols to transfer information between servers. Protocols used include HTTP, FTP, SMTP. Intranet A network, based on TCP/IP communications, that belongs to a corporation or organization. Access to the Intranet is restricted to the members of the corporation or organization through the use of a Firewall that requires authorization in the form of a Username and Password. IP Address Uses dotted decimal notation (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX) to uniquely identify devices on an Ethernet network. Each section of the notation can have a number from 0255. 72 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation SYSTEM GROUP COMPONENT ICONS USER WEBSITE MANUAL GLOSSARY ISP Internet Service Provider - this is the party that provides access to the Internet. Generally this is a company that sells this service, but it could be any entity that has access to the high bandwidth backbone required to facilitate Internet access. LAN Local Area Network this type of network is a self contained network that could be connected to other networks. Generally confined to a small area or a single building. Port A logical address used (together with a URL) to access the correct information on a server. Do not confuse the logical ports with the physical ones that connect devices to a computer. Redirection Used in conjunction with websites and refers to automatically displaying a particular page of a website when a user enters the site by redirecting the user from one URL to another. In RCWebView it is possible to redirect users to the System Group screen they are allowed (or need) to access. System(s) A functional Reliable Controls MACH-System. A system must be Ethernet enabled to be accessed through RC-WebView 2.0. URL Uniform Resource Locater this is the global address used to identify documents and other resources on the Internet. The address consists of two parts; the first part identifies the information passing protocol being used (e.g. http://, or ftp://), the second part uses an IP address or domain name to identify the particular document or resource. Both the IP address and the domain name can be extended to uniquely identify sections of a document or resource. IP addresses can have a port

number attached using a colon (e.g. 192.168.25.31:49156). Domain names can be extended by attaching a file path using forward slashes (e.g. http://www.mydomain.com/graphics/ somepicture.jpg). 73 RC-WebView 2.0 2008 Reliable Controls Corporation SYSTEM GROUP COMPONENT ICONS USER WEBSITE MANUAL GLOSSARY VPN Virtual Private Network this type of network relies on public wires to connect through secure firewalls to a protected LAN or intranet. A VPN relies on encryption and other security measures to ensure that only authorized users have access. WAN Wide Area Network this type of network covers a large geographic area and consists of two or more LANs connected using public wires. Web Page A web page is a portion of a website. A web page uses HTML to display text and graphics in a browser. In the case of Websites, each System Group displayed becomes a separate web page.
